Default Lets play NAME THAT SOUND aka Help

SO ... got my 89 EF running the other day after sitting for months, needed new dizzy assembly and ignition timing. When I got it running, drivable, stable, whatever you wish to call it, a winding sound was coming from the bay that hasn't occurred before. It comes from the tranny, ive declared. WHAT in the tranny that is making this sound, I am unaware. I have a few ideas, but figured I could ask youz for opinions.

when you hear the idle drop, that is from me pulling the gas pedal toward me with my toe, noticed my throttle cables seems to be stretched a little when I was adjusting idle yesterday.

If anyone has any recommendations of what this could be, I'll gladly give attention. Thanks guys

If I had to guess, I'd say it's the pilot bearing.

since I'm in a situation whether to take the hatch back to school w/ me, or not, for the summer(wanted to leave Monday at the latest) .. pulling my tranny isn't exactly something I feel like doing before then ...

so.. since pilot bearings go faulty when tranny mounts are worn out.. would it be a good move to look into bushings for mounts?

I was cOncerned with the sound because I didn't want my tranny to rip up while at school , hours away from my garage.

I know the bearings don't go out on their own, and usually have something to do with the crank, but it's running relatively good. it's just annoying; telling myself 'it sounds like its supercharged' -_____-

more suggestions, conclusions- accepted.

which side of the engine bay is it coming from, tranny side or timing belt side?

It could be a water pump bearing, oil pump bearing, tensioner bearing etc.

Had that whinning noise when i changed my timing belt and tensioner. Thought it needed to be stretched. ;But it was the belt being too tight loosen the belt from the tensioner.
and for the pedal had the same problem it was the throttle being too tight. Loosen it a little.
Let me know if this helps
