Ok so I just bought a new axle yesterday and had time to put it in today, i ordered a gsr axle for my gsr transmision. Problem is theres about a 1/2 inch gap between the axle and the tranny. No matter how hard I try and how hard I hit it the the mallet it still wont go in all the way.

I also have a lsd in my car, i tried putting it into gear to see if it was fine and the car wont move at all, I thought lsd spun both tires?

 

Did you get the axle for the right year tranny and if it's hydro or cable did you get axles that will work with which ever one you have?

 

yea I got 94 gsr axles, which are hydro

 

Alo the axle when its in, wont come out unless i pry it with a flathead so i feel like its in but theres still a 1/2 inch gap

 

Just barely start the axle in the hole and then give it a good snap and it should go. If not you might need to squeeze the circlip on the axle a little.

 

I lubed up the whole part of the axle that trys to go in the tranny, squeezed the little clip tighter, then removed it to see if that was the problem and it goes in the same lebgth everytime. Theres about a 1/2inch to inch gap. And when i bold everything back on and try to put it in gear it wont move at all and makes a like grinding noise in 1st-5th.

 

Also the reason i bought a new axle was because i was driving a few days ago did a 1st to 2nd pull and halfway threw second i heard a loud noise and a grinding noise so i put it in neutral and got towed home. I thought i popped my axle but now i think it might be more then that. I have a gsr tranny woth a obx lsd

 

That's probably your issue. OBX LSDs are notorious for being too tight where the axle goes in, sometimes it's near impossible to get an axle out of an OBX diff. You may need to use a little extra force here.

 

I tried for atleast 2 hours yesterday. I would get the axle in and.it would feel like it would set in the tranny, i tried pulling on it and it wont come out but its still not in all the way :/ ill probably.just end up bronging it to this honda shop nearby the guy will hopefully have a few axles laying around he can try to get in

 

Ok well it turns out the store i went to gave me the wrong axle. So i got the right axle, put it in and the car still wouldnt move. Turns out my diff was blown. Obx lsd = crap with a crap warrenty, I only used it for about 8 months before it completely blew.

So now I just ordered a mfactory lsd which I shoulduv just ordeded in the first place and saved myself 400 dollars. Lesson learned for myself, no more buying cheap parts.
