Default 1996 acura rl bad fuel pump?

Hello. i got a 96 rl that has no fuel. I already tested the main relay and it checked out good. Actually i automatically assumed that was the problem so i bought a new one but it still has no fuel.At this point im assuming its a bad pump. So my questions are?

1. Anything else i should check?
2. I hear a noise from what seems to be the pump for maybe about a second and then it goes away. Is this normal or should the noise be constant?
3. The pump has no power and no noise with the ignition on the on position but when i start cranking the engine it reads 12 volts. Is this normal?
4. If it is the fuel pump.. Its pretty pricey. I have a local junkyard that has a 97 tl. Is the 97 tl fuel pump the same as the 96 rl fuel pump?

With key on the pump will come on to build up fuel pressure. Disconnect the pump and test for power. If it has power you need a pump. Hit the tank with a rubber malot.

Yes. it was the fuel pump. Just for future reference though the fuel pump does not get power untill you crank the car. No power to the fuel pump with the key on! Unlike all the other hondas i have owned.
