Default coupe or hatch

I just sold my Z28, and plan on building a civic to my liking. I currently have 6,500, and am looking for a car to start cranking on. I would prefer a coupe, just because i think they generally look better. I plan on doing an H22 swap, i don't know if this affects either body-style, but just thought i'd include that....I've found severaly hatches (93 si, and 92 dx) in the area in my price range, but i can't seem to find any coupes. What should i do....i have seen several hatches that i like, but i'd like to see some more and figure out what i should do if i get one. Which do you prefer??? and why

hatches are a little lighter, but at the same time hatches are getting to common now, everyone has a hatch now. So i would build a coupe just to be somewhat different. And as for your swap the body style wont affect anything, its just as easy to swap the h22 into a coupe as it is into a hatch

hehe go coupe! the thing is that the hb i believe is around 100 pounds lighter stock. so thats something to consider. im not sure about this but i think that if you wanted an even lighter car go with the hf and swap the engine out, the thing is that the car will be pathetically slow until the swap happens. or get a crx, some of them weigh like 1800 pounds! and you can swap in big ballsy motors to make them fast as hell. but a lot of ppl hate the way they look. also if you want a crx i believe the 87 models have four wheel steering. im pretty sure one of the models do but the year i am not sure of. hope i helped.

No matter how common people say they seem to be getting, I see more coupes than hatches. I prefer hatches but get what you want which is a coupe. Get what you want, not what someone else wants.

Hatches are highly saturated on this MB and that's about it.

There are still way more coupes in the U.S than hatches that are hooked up.

I own a hatch and I will never ever own a coupe - that's just me because I've always loved hatches. Not saying coupes aren't cool but I'm a hatch guy for life.

If you let what others drive influence your buying decision then you aren't in it for the right reasons anyways.

How about a 4dr, not many of them out there, and it can be a great sleeper. 4dr family car..., who would have guessed.

i already have done the 4dr sleeper thing.....i'm driving my dad's SHO right now. And the "reason i'm in it" is to have a fast car that is nice and fun to drive. I looked as some nice hatches in the archives, so i know that the looks aren't an issue, cause they can look nice. how is the interior room vs having a trunk?

The HF is a CRX which is the lightest of the 88-91 models. The Civic STD hatch is also about the same weight.

also if you want a crx i believe the 87 models have four wheel steering. im pretty sure one of the models do but the year i am not sure of. hope i helped.
That was the older Preludes that had a model with four wheel steering.

If you want a really light chassis with total bolt-in swapability, get a 92-95 VX or CX hatch. If you want the lighter coupe then get the DX. If the weight isn't a big concern and you like all the extras like a sunroof, power mirrors, etc. then go with the Si hatch or EX coupe. But you came here to H-T so we will brainwash you into buying a hatch with no extras which include ditching the AC and PS if the are present!

reason being they are the lightest of the bunch and I owned a 95 DX coupe with a gs-r motor and my current car is a 94 CX with a gs-r motor.

Get what you like bes which seems to be a coupe. i personally love coupes way more than hatches. Im also tired of seeing all these hatches and not so many coupes but I like hatches too, its just too much of one thing kinda deal.

go coupe, you'll love it

Go with a HATCH because they are light and no matter you do to them the will be fast. I have a HB that has D16Z6 motor, Stage 1 Clutch, Short Shifter, Lowered geared tranny, Catback, Aem cold air, zex plugs, Arospeed racing coilovers, and use to have a 65 shot on it but sold it. With the 65 shot i would run 0-100 in just under 10 sec. Go with a HB man there fun

I'd say if you're looking to make a fast street car, then hatch would be the way to go, it's just lighter, plus at least where i come from no one would even think twice about a fast hatch.

However, I really love the way coupes look, and they're not that much heavier than hatches depending on which model you get. I have an EX and it's pretty slow, but I like the options it came with. It's a great daily driver.

my 6gen hx coupe weighs a whopping 22lbs heavier than a 6gen dx hatch.

not to mention 90% of girls like coupes more than hatches.

but i still kinda want a hatch
