1995 Accord LX radiator fan runs when car off???
So on my 1995 Accord LX the fan has been turning on as i walk away from my car. Its not that hot. It happens after cold night drives, or normal driving. Should It be doing this??? It seems like its a new problem.
if its new i would guess its starting to get hotter then it did before. i mean you say you think its new? i dont mean to sound rude but how do you not know if your car did this before or not? but i would say that your coolant is starting to get hotter thus the timer kicking the fans on when car is off to cool down the coolant. i would start with a complete coolant flush take out the radiator and tip it from side to side to get most of the old coolant out not all comes out when you drain it its not necessary tho. also drain most of the coolant from the block there should be a drain plug in the back of your block to let out the coolant. and a new t-stat wouldnt hurt new hoses water pump. every time i buy a car ill be honest i go all out. i buy new radiators hoses t-stats and water pumps and since im at the water pump new timing belt and belt tensioner balance shaft and seals, radiator caps, all from honda genuine parts and honda genuine coolant. y u ask?becuase i dont know if the older owner did it or not
this is completly normal for the fan to continue to run after car is shut off . i believe it says so under the hood so some jack *** doesnt have his hand by the fan.
To me it just seems strange when it kicks on after I have been driving on a cold night. I know that its normal when its hot in the summer. I replaced the thermostat and coolant already. I also replaced one of the thermo swithes.
Maybe its electronic thermostat is out of spec.
Check the coolant level if you haven't already.
Do you have/get your hands on an IFR temp reader? You could then point it at the head and read the temp.....at ~223F thermo b (upper hose) would kick on the fan with the key off.
At ~199F thermo a (lower hose, t-stat housing) kicks both fans on when the car is running-key on.
