Hey all, looking into Civic's as a first car. I need help!
I am looking to buy my first car and preferably it must be a Japanese one. I can't stand Euro boxes...
Anyways, I found this little gem on piston-heads and I was wondering how decent of a car this is? I checked out the insurance and it's dirt cheap so this thing will be perfect for me. Also, I'd want to keep this for a while and restore it to almost brand new condition, with the intent of tuning it for track days. How readily available are performance parts for this?

P.S. I am NOT looking to rice this out, I want to tune this properly when I have the time to do so! !

Why are you looking to get an ancient carbureted fossil? There are no performance parts for that. Please do better research. Just because it is a Civic does not make it a candidate for Fast and Furious.
Jeezzzz grumble, did you get out of the wrong side of the bed this morning, your grumbling more then usual today?
OP, grumblemarc is correct that engine is old technology and although I am sure you can get some performance parts for it, [generally speaking you can get performace parts for any kind of engine] but you will be limited on what you can get and mods will have to be done.
You want something for track days, pull that 1.5L and swap in a 1.8L DOHC engine and have at her. 94

ok car if you are going for price but here is the thing and there is one right down the road from me and its fast but only because it has had an engine swap to a b series and also it is turbo now it is a good thing if you dont want body parts upgrade for the exterior cause that will be hard to find however if your going for performance and your comfortable with spending a couple grand down the road over time ok but you will definatley need a motor swap cause carb just aint the way to go
Yes grumblemarc, I am aware that this won't make a candidate for Fast and Furious. I'm looking for a good platform to work on a few years down the line. I like this body shape and I don't intend to do any exterior mods to it.
I am looking to keep this car for a while if I do decide on getting it, but how feasible is it to drop something like a B16 in there? I'm guessing I'll need new engine mounts and whatnot?
The first post made it sound like you were going to work on it AS IS and attempt to tune it and try to make it something it could not be. You weren't clear on what you planned to do to it.

Aye, to be more clear: I do plan on working on it as a serious project, not to turn it into a rice turd box.
Yes, some mods will be needed, mounts, wiring harness(s), ECU/ECM and so on.
