Default 98 Civic wont start - turn key and nothing happens (solved)

98 honda civic. ive checked the started and its working fine. When I try to turn the ignition on nothing happens. It seems as if Im not pressing the clutch and trying to start it. I checked the fuses and they are good as well. any ideas as to what it could be?
