I did a search and was wondering if anyone had a wiring schematic for the wiper/washer circuit for a 96 Civic.

The civic in question is a 96 LX, is it supposed to have a combined wiper/washer. When you turn the washers on should the wipers go on too, or was that not available on the lx model?

So I guess you really didn't need the wiring diagram.

 

I know that it should, but there is an asterisk at the bottom saying with combined washer wiper, meaning maybe that some models didn't have that.

 

And yes I want the diagram to figure out why it doesn't turn on, but I am thinking its normal function.

 

If you have a washer fluid reservoir and motor and a washer switch, which seems likely, then you should have the washer feature.

 

Yes I know that, but why is the asterisk there? I am assuming you know how to read wiring diagrams, so then you would know that some models have different wiring, but they will use the same diagram but add the wire and make a note etc.. just wondering if someone else out there with a 96 lx has a combined switch or if that was an extra feature.

 

I misunderstood that you were asking about the combined function. I checked the service manual and it says that only 98-00 Civics have the Wht/Blk wire for the combined washer/wiper function. What's confusing is that I thought I have the function on my 97 Civic, but I need to double check that this evening.

 

Yea see that is what I thought too, I own a 2000 SI, so it's combined on that so my first thought with this car was something isn't working properly. So my next step would be a wiring diagram, but it has that little note about combined operation, so I'd like to know for sure if that is how the car is supposed to be before I condemn the wiper switch or start wasting my time with diagnostics.

 

It looks like you could swap in an ICU from a 98-00 Civic and splice into the Wht/Blk wire if you want the combined function for your 96 Civic.

 

Yea I know I can modify it to make it work, I just wanted to know if it was working properly or if the switch was bad.
