I have been looking at GTAW's for the past year. been wanting to take a leap into a good machine. I have done zero AC work and have been wanting to buy a machine that so i could do aluminum. I originally was looking at the diversion 165 unit but was talking to a local welding store employee and he is pointing me into the Syncrowave direction.

Does the Syncrowave have a pulse feature (really looking to try this feature). Also what negatives or positives have you had with this machine. anything i should look out for? Thank you.

 

If your gonna drop for a synchowave 200 you might aswell just get the dynasty 200dx for a bit more and have the best. Not sure if the 200 dx does high speed puls but the 350dx does 5000pps

 

as far as price difference it shows a huge jump. i really dont wanna spend more then 2k limit for machine. the local shop said we could work about $2,200 for a new Sync200. I also have to buy bottles, extra regulator, tungsten etc. I am a hobbyist but i like good equipment.

 

I love my sync 200 mine is a newer one bought it new like 2 years ago and it has the pulse function. I don't use it though I like to control the heat with the pedal..I have no complaints out of mine at all except it weighs a ton compared to the new inverter machines

don't buy from a local shop. buy from indiana oxygen on ebay. free shipping all the time. probably about $1900 from them for the Sync.

I did sell my Sync to get the Dynasty200 mainly for the weight, size, and capability of the Dynasty to run off 110V plugs with an adapter I made. It auto-detects the incoming voltage and you can weld up to about 100 amps off 110V.

A side benefit is that the Dynasty has tons more aluminum features and you only need 1 type of tungsten. No more green tungsten for aluminum.

 

I was in the same boat but ended up with a Diversion 180 because I need 110v/230v. I like it a lot.

I personally, would never go back to a transformer machine.

 

The miller maxstar is like the inverter version of the synchrowave and a little cheaper than the dynasty.

Bought a used but mint sync 200 with ~50hr on it. Added a small watercooled wp20 torch, coolmate 3 watercooler, nice cart, bottle and a few accessories.

I use it as much as I can and have no complaints about it. Pulse works great, you can use it in several ways.

 

Nice DK! i really would like to purchase a machine with pulse. might as well make the single purchase and have it and not use it. or need it and not have it.

have you found any cons since owning the machine? anything i might be aware of for future issues? I take it the foot pedal isnt the chinese version they offer with the diversion 165!

 

try double the price of a sync vs dynasty. I have a sync200, I like it, It would be nice to have a dynasty or inverter machine, but cost is the limiting factor for me. I think the pulse feature between the sync200 and the dynasty 200 are completely uncomparable. When people talk about pulse, I think some are talking about different things. You can't get high enough pps on a sync that you can on the dynasty. It depends on what you're using the pulse for. But I've had my sync200 for a couple of years, I like it alot other than not being a dynasty lol. But it has done everything I needed it to, other than welding thicker alumininum for periods of time it is great!!

 

if the sync200 comes with the same pedal as the 180sd then it's 10 times better than the div165 pedal. twice the size and overall quality.

 

Get a Dynasty200 and be done. I found mine on ebay with 9hrs on it with a coolmate1 for $3500 (blue lightening model). But I'm a sucker for inverters . And to be honest, buying a Sync never crossed my mind

 

You def can not go wrong with either as both will lay some beautiful beads.

K20EF, thanks! The size, yes its a big contraption rolling around and its heavy. Even if I had an inverter, the whole deal is still a big contraption rolling around the shop. TIG wise, just the welder box doesn't do much alone. By the time I would add a cooler, cart, reels, bottle, rod storage etc, its going to share a similar maybe slightly smaller footprint to be safe, cart wise.

 

If you guys dont have the wireless miller pedal you HAVE to get it. It is amazing. One less cord to trip on.

 

Internet is cheaper but I’ve found sometimes its good to develop a relationship with your local supplier, no better way to start that then buying a machine from them. If anything ever goes wrong they deal with the fix rather then you shipping it somewhere. Also, my guy will order stuff just to let me check it out such as torches, cups, lenses just for size comparision and if I don’t like it he just sends it back or stocks it on the shelf. Don’t forget the extra money for goodies to get welding, if you are totally starting from scratch.

 

Good point. Wish they wouldve had this when I bought the dynasty.

 

That pedal needs to come down in Price! It's nice but WAY too expensive.
