b16 bolt ons
I have a d16z6 right now with aem cold air intake, dc 4-2-1 header, high flow cat, and greddy evo exhaust. I am thinking about maybe swaping in a b16 in march and i am wondering if all or if any of these parts will bolt on? and I was also wondering where is the best place to order a motor from. Sorry for all the questions. thanks.
youre probably gonna have to extend the b-pipe of the exhaust, and the cat should be okay. youre going to need a B-series header, so that means you can kiss the DC goodbye, about the intake not really sure if it will, maybe. i suggest look at the one made for the b16a and compare your intake to it.

thanks for the help.
I had thought about a b18c1 but i had a friend who did one in his civic and it looked sort of awkward and he still wasn't that fast. I was just thinking that even though the b18 will fit, that a b16 is the best bet because it is a civic motor and it will be less expensive. What do you guys think the price difference would be between the two?

i have also been thinking about ls/vtec. I found that the ls motor is cheaper but how much would it be to get the b16 head on there. I have always thought that it would be sort of cool to do this. What do you guys think, pros/cons?
ls/vtec sucks *****...their reliablity rate SUCKS *** too,r/s ratio is terrible, a perfect rod/stroke ratio is 1:75:0, and a b16 motors r/s is 1:74:0 making it almost perfect...
the b18c vs b16a2 will cost you about 900 more (if you go to HMO atleast)

B16's are cool, I have one and it is fun, but from a drag racing standpoint more torque is needed and the extra $900 for 1.8 to start with is worth it IMO.

The Greddy Exhaust Will work, the AEM intake will work but it's 2.5 dia. and the B16 uses a 2.75 intake. I got mine for a 99-00 si and it works fine. Header is gone, sorry.
Any engine importer can get B16's. Be sure and get the 92-95 SIRII engine with hydro tranny. The more complete the better.
The B16 is a fine engine if your on a budget and i'm running the same or better times than GSR swaps with my B16.

You guys are talkin JDM b16's which are cheap, but if you wanna pass smog you would need a USDM b16 which is gonna run you about the same as a b18c, unless you find one for cheap (how I dont know). Go for the b18c its a good engine and will give you a better start and be easier on your wallet if you go n/a. My car should be at the low 14's and be into high 13's when I get my cams and intake manifold, then even faster when I swap out the pistons in about 6 months. I cant wait to kill some cocky guy in his stock SS (from a roll
of course).
of course).
