It is just and inclination towards structure design. It keeps strenght and lessens weight. Just like bridges and race car bodies.

Because the stunnas like holes. Honestly you can bend a DC bar with your hands.

Actually, you could bend the older style aluminium DC Sports bars quite easily.

I don't even think they used aircraft grade aluminium, and those holes severely weakened their bending rigidity.

Where does the bottom bar bolt on?

They kinda look like a piece of WWII military equipment.....

Yes, the older DC strut tower bars were easy to bend, but they were designed to take load in their axial direction, not bending load. If a designer wanted a bar that withstood bending load, they would turn it 90 degrees so that it stood on edge like a girder. In addition, the ends of the DC strut tower bar used a spherical bearing that intentionally or not, made sure that the bar was easy to bend. Just changing the end connection to a rigid one would have made the bar much more difficult to bend.

I am not defending their design, but I am pointing out why they feel like they bend so easily.

Holes are a common way to lighten a piece without losing too much strength. For example, some of the plate steel gussets in my roll cage have a hole stamped in them.
