Default 1100cc FIC injector figment issues?

I know the older pen style 1000cc FIC injectors fit just fine, but recently i ordered some 1100cc and they look like a newer design.

when i installed them on my Skunk2 IM with stock fuel rail it doesn't seem to fit correct.

The issue is that the BOTTOM doesn't fully seat into the black injector seal.
Does anyone know what's the deal with them?

Someone said to stack 2 of the black grommets over the bottom of the injector, but to me that seems like it's not right. Air could get into it and cause a cylinder to lean out OR be a space for boost leak (small amount).

Hi Charlie,
I believe you emailed us yesterday and I had responded to start to figure out your fitment situation, but I'm more than happy to continue that conversation here. You can still have Jordan from MAP give me a call directly to discuss as well.
We have shipped many of these injectors out without issues, so I'd like to run through a few steps to diagnose the fitment issue you are having:

1) Did you purchase these injectors directly from us or one of our dealers? Can you let me know the purchase date?

2) Are you using a stock fuel rail and intake manifold?

3) What injectors were installed on your car previously?

If you can provide a photo of one of our 1100cc injectors next to one of your previously used injectors and send that to me it would be a big help in confirming that you have the correct fitment for your car. Please email that to me at the same email address we have been talking through previously.

Also just to make sure it is clear, the "1000" you are referring to is actually our 900cc injector and it does look different than the 1100cc injectors that you have. We offer a wide range of injectors and some of them do differ in appearance, but we modify them to properly fit each application.

We'll get your situation all sorted out, don't worry! Talk to you soon...
Bryan

Bryan,
still waiting to find time to pick them up from Jordan again so i can take pictures of them on the fuel rail.

It's kind of hard to explain really. so pictures are on their way.

I figured someone else may have had this issue as well.

I bought them from MAP, they ordered it with last month's regular "stocking order"

i have skunk2 IM, stock fuel rail no spacers or washers in between rail & manifold

i use to run PTE 780cc injectors (peak hold) and they were fat and stumpy like stock honda injectors. lol

Haha ok, yes our injectors should fit your application but send me the photos and I'll help you sort things out.

here are the pictures.

notice the lower location of the lower SEAT.....
stock injectors seat lower than FIC.

Notice with the rubber injector grommet take off.

now with both injectors installed onto stock fuel rail.
using ONLY 1 lower rubber seat grommet on each injector.
The OEM one seats into the hole of the intake manifold.
The FIC injectors clearly leaves a gap & also doesn't seat into the manifold at all.

When jordan opened them up and compared to his older FIC injectors they were clearly different and he's very familiar with FIC and loves them over any other injector!
He even double checked the part#

He said if we used 1 rubber grommet in the hole of the intake manifold & kept the BLUE rubber grommet on the FIC it does close the gap, BUT you can still freely spin the injector around.

And Jordan said placing 2 rubber grommets on top of each other is a bad idea cause for TURBO applications where the cambers see a lot of PSI, air/fuel could leak out (in between rubber grommets) of it which could cause a cylinder to lean out or be a fire hazard.

Possible safe solution:
- FIC needs to create a taller RUBBER seat grommet which will seat into the IM hole and reach the top of the lower injector body.

or
- have some sort cnc metal spacer which tappers down to HUG lower body of injector BUT with same OUTTER diameter to seat inside intake manifold hole.

Thoughts?

shave the spacers or make shorter ones on the rail side.

It simply looks like you were supplied with a wrong adapter. I'm sure they sell different adapters to fit the injectors to different vehicles. A taller adapter at the base of the injector would be my solution to fix the problem.

You don't have those little brown spacers under the fuel rail do you? I think they normally go above but it's been a while since I have had a fuel rail off.

Had the same problem with my2150 injectors. Leave the fuel rail spacers out and they should fit fine, also use small amount of grease to let them fit the o rings into the manifold and rail

Got email from Mike @ FIC.

"I have reviewed the issue you were having and I think I have a solution:

I will send you four top extenders with taller tops – these extenders have a ridge that clip onto the injector (see attached picture).

I am sorry about the trouble, it appears as though you somehow received injectors with the wrong top extender.

I should note, however, that the extenders & clips you are being sent are no longer in production as we are changing to a clip-less top extender with an internal ridge to hold the o-ring. Just so you know this so that in the future folks don’t expect to see the clips on new sets of injectors.

I will send the extenders and clips right away.
Please let me know if you have any more questions! "
