reliable boost on H23 vtec blue top
im using H23 vtec with obd1 H22 intake with H22 obd1 injectors and resistor box with P28 hondata S300 before i was wondering to swap J35 in my lude but by bad luck no swap mounts available so i plan to turbo my H23 i got top mount RB20 turbo manifold its was for straight 6 cylinder head i removed 2 cylinder and fixed H22 exhaust manifold plate into it i just wanna use it for .6psi of boost which turbo should i use i got 300zx 2 turbo and other 7M GTE single but its large housing and NEO RB25 turbo but with RB25 turbo im getting space to use power steering and AC guys which turbo is good for .6 psi with everything stock is .6 psi fine for H23 vtec because its open deck
Yea, you can run 12psi on shitting timing and make the same power as someone on 9psi with happy timing. It's definitely more about power than boost, unless you're just running obscene amounts of boost and have the worlds shittiest tune. IMO, to boost a motor that is otherwise not engineered for that, is going to make it unreliable. There's a +/- figure for WHP that will "last" for a while, but it's by no means going to be reliable. So many things can not work (I.E. wastegate, boost controller, etc) and that's the end.
With that said, as I'm sure you knew, .6 bar should be fine. That'll probably put you in the 240-260whp range with supporting mods, and be a lot of fun. It sounds like you're going to Frankenstein everything together, which I ASSume is for budget requirements, so my word of caution is to not cheap out on anything with a turbo kit. You're playing with fire already, it's not a good idea to mix that with cheap *** parts. The manifold/turbo idea seems ok, kinda ghetto, but whatever. Again, i ASSume you did that so you could run one of the turbo's you already have. I would run the RB25 turbo, as that's a similar sized motor, so it "should" by definition have a pretty nicely sized turbo for a bluetop.
