It all depends on $$$$ and how far you want to take it. Seeing how I know you're money situation, just boost the h23, and if you want more then rebuild a h22 on the side and go from there...

Go with a straight h23a. Going turbo will give you enough problems and just by putting an h22a head on it your just asking for more problems. The h23a crank cannot yield high rpms, something in which vtec thrives off of. Also remember, the cam profile overlap in vtec is what makes vtec so good, but for turbo it can hinder performance. Yes there are guys out there with 667whp vtec motors but i doubt you are looking at spending that much money on your project. Forget the h22 head and spend the money on upgrading your internals so you can handle more boost. BoostedH23a1 puts out 250whp at 6.5psi, XES puts out over 500whp on his fully built h23a, DLB1994 puts out 337whp at 12psi and i put out 330whp at 14psi. My motor is capable of an easy 450 but I need a larger turbo. Screw a 50 trim.

GudeH23a: i think you can get 400whp out that turbo just get msd and you got the fuel and every thing so turn up the boost

Yes i do need the ignition, that will help out alot. While Ed was doing the dyno tuning at Balanced he pointed out how my stock ignition couldnt keep up with the power i was making and if i added one i'd be able to free up a little bit more hp. My buddy at turbonetics said the turbo i have is capable of 400hp but im just going to replace it with something bigger and better when i graduate from college.
