1998 Odyssey Key Stuck
Key is stuck in the ignition switch of my 1998 Odyssey. The wheel lock is not interfering, it is in park but the key will not turn to release. I have noticed an increased pressure when turning the key from I to II with a more definitive "click." I can't leave the keys in the ignition. Please help.
Still stuck? I have 1998 as well, but I haven't had this problem... yet. I did have a similar problem in an older Accord though. Anyway, I'm not sure if it will help you to know this or not but here ya go:
There is a "Key Interlock System" in the Ody, which uses a lock/unlock solenoid to either allow or disallow key removal depending on the position of the "Parking Pin Switch". Your problem could be (or probably is) in one of these components. Basically, when the shift lever is in park, there is a pin that must turn off the pin switch deactivating the solenoid.
I have the service manual here and could help you troubleshoot more if you still need it.
