Default -- My LS was dynoed --

158whp and 124lb-ft torque ... kinda happy ! A local shop was having a dyno day event and I was at work and couldn't get the day off so my trusty friend ran my car for me.

the kicker: I only had one run, and the max power was at 7100rpm ... Crower 62404's are proven to make their best power over or around 8000rpm (Halo confirms 8600rpm), so with proper cam tuning I think I've got a nice beast on my hands! Keep in mind its still 9.2:1, running stock bottom end, stock intake manifold, stock valves, no VAFC... I was hoping for at least in the 160's but given that it was a) one run only b) produced only @ ~7100rpm and c) my car drank up 2.75L of oil in about 2000 miles, its still pretty good.

Anyway I'll have the graph posted up soon (if anyone cares)

I was pretty impressed by the run(I witnessed it) and I think there is still quite a bit of room for improvement. With the tuning(I know you will get) you will probably be close to 170hp or more WHP. I know you do lots of research research before every mod and it's paying off

404s do not make peak power at 8000 rpm... that is not true. HX_GUY tuned them over a year ago and made peak power in a similar spot...

HX Guy was running a stock unported head... Yeah that's really good for high rpm flowing....

Hey teg92, did you run the 14.5 with the 404's? What kind of i/h/e do you have?
Can't wait to see that dyno chart.

so the cams gave you hp alot huh? or is it the P&P on the head that really did it cause those are some good #'s. How's the idling with the 404's? Thinkin about either gettin the skunks or the 404's just don't want my car to die.

Wow i really feel dumb now!!!!, my friend had an LS/vtec conversion on his car done (94 teg) and he has no room in his parents garage, so he had a B16 from Japan, and his old head from his LS and he said i coulda got roughly 130hp from the combo and i said no thanks, he only wanted 200 bucks for it? But the head had 150K miles on it? oh well, i dont like my rex anyways, i am buying the LS/vtec in January!! yeeeeeuuuhh!?!?! Still coulda been fast from what you guys are saying!!! not needing vtec i guess?

When did SKunk2 start making Cams for the Honda Non-VTEC motors.

You have a Non-VTEC head, Yeah thats really good for high rpm flow
Don't even get me started. Giving me the thumbs down?.... If you're dumb enough to claim that the aluminum cast and the stamp that says P73/PR3 or P72 makes a head flow better than a nonVTEC head then you need to get your facts straightened out. A cylinder head is a cylinder head, after both are ported by a professional, they can both have the potential flow just as well. The only difference with VTEC is that you are able to run a bigger lobe profile at higher rpms in VTEC than you could with a nonvtec. Two reasons for this, idle and the physical limitations of valve travel due to the head/retainer clearance.

I repeat, it is stupid to judge HX-Guy's all half mighty b20 vtec vs nonvtec setups to really set the record straight. For HX-Guy to have put all that money into an 2.0L LS and put huge cams that crower and crane (for similar cams) both state that headwork is recomended and use them with the PR4/P74/P75 head which is known (IN STOCK TRIM) to be the worst flowing b-series head. A PORT JOB WOULD HAVE EASILY MADE UP FOR THIS, bottom line. But please don't be bitter because my bad flowing LS is making 4whp less as your superior B18C5 in stock form. btw (no low shotting: did you ever hit 200whp with your JUN head package? your previous threads show that you had a JUN III head package with a hytech header & exhaust, and than 3 months later you are back to a stock ITR? just curious whats going on)

To everyone else thanks! Yes they are rotas, the 404's can idle well to horrible depending on cam timing, but then again I believe that a ported head should help the idle.
