ITR 01-0038 (Known badge number as of now, not official)
I bought this last year May 2011. Wasn’t happy of the CW paint job. Had major cam gear oil seals leak and oil pan gasket leak. Code P0172 randomly appears on and off. Upper control arm bushings were loose. Rear transmission mount shot.
Tried to sell it due to a sudden notification of a overseas move projected 9 months out. Nobody wanted to buy a non-OEM Color Type-R. Then potential buyers see engine bay paint flaking off.
Decided to keep it in Nov 2011, repaired and replaced what was wrong. Began color restoration in Feb 2012. So yea I broke the rules on keeping it OEM since it was already an Non-OEM color. Decided to go with Y-65P Rio Yellow pearl from the NSX/S2000.
Slowly I tore down everything to the shell and sand/scuff all crap paint. Had a friend help by welding the antenna hole, wiper hole, trunk key hole, rear water squirt hole, and misc drilled holes on the engine bay firewall. All I spent was labor for a local painter in Great Falls, MT spraying the paint on the car and buying the Y-65P paint. Paintjob was done correctly. Primer sealer, basecoat, mid-coat, high velocity clear.

Wow, fantastic job! Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Phoenix Yellow. In my opinion, Rio Yellow is definitely a better hue as PY is too pale. Car looks great!

 

WOW. I'm an OEM fanatic but this looks amazing and i don't think anybody can hate on what you did. Great job, car really looks amazing..and i even like the Acura badges and the center caps, it gives it a nice, authentic look.

BTW, what suspension is it sitting on?

No plans as of now, moving overseas to Guam for 3 years. caR will be stored!

Cool. Im active duty Navy. I almost got stationed in Guam but instead went to Italy. I miss my R. your R came out amazing. Unfortunatley mine is forsale just time to move on. I had a PY itr before my current CW R, and man i miss the yellow. Enjoy your time in Guam

I was stationed in Guam back in 07 for 2 yrs, now suddenly im going back. Island is nice and the locals are really cool. I'm at that stage of moving on also. I'll be shipping my K-swapped LS to Guam and putting it up for sale. I can only ship one car.

I paid a window guy to pull the windows out. Just by watching, he cut it from inside the car. he's been doing it for 15 yrs and never broke a window.

 

who gives a **** about what color it is? that's a nice caR, regardless.

 

I remember this one when it was up for sale. For the life of me, I couldn't understand why the owner painted it Champ white. He could of just purchased a champ white R to begin with. As another member stated, I am also an OEM R color purist, but this color looks absolutely gorgeous on your caR. Instead of the Phoenix yellow, this should of been the OEM R color. Congrats, she's beautiful.

x2. I think i can say i like this color over PY. PY is only my preference becasuse its OEM. I can't believe how amazing that car looks its my new background on my laptop!

 

Wow... looks really good... I had the same idea in mind about shaving the front bumper plate... But now that I see it idk if I like it... which is really weird. bc i love clean shaved plate-less fronts....

either way the yellow looks awesome and i bet looks even better in person.
