Never really had an overheating problem but I notice my radiator fins was rusting pretty bad. I replaced this radiator 4 years ago and it was KOYO OEM spec replacement. I attach some picture and if you touch the rusted part, it falls apart like an dried out leaf...

The coolant fluid inside the radiator is nice and blue. No build up or anything...

Anyone ever had a similar problem?

 

Guess others only had issue with internal rust...

 

yea ive never had external rust.. looks like there was no coating there, or something that got spilled there that took the coating off and it probably just rusted because of rain and such

I did smell coolant once so I pop my hood to check for leak but nothing...
I even did the coolant system pressure test but everything was OK.
I assume nothing was leaking since the coolant level never drop but I guess this was the problem...

 

do you live in up north where you have winter with salt trucks and what not?

 

Nope I'm in Sunny San Diego. Not even near the beach too.
