Default T-Stat replacement!

Hey folks,

Recently my heater stopped working. By this, I mean the fan blows (depending how high you have it) but does not blow warm/hot. I also noticed that my rear window defog doesn't work HALF as good since the heat has gone. I was told by a reputable mechanic that the thermostat talks with the rear window defog? Is this true?

That has to be one of the funniest things I read in a long time.

I am guessing that your reputable mechanic works at Jiffy Lube.

Am I close?

I start with check the "flow" thru the heater core....could be a bad heater control valve (they can look good from the outside) or a blockage in the core - can try a low pressure back flush thru the heater core.

For the rear defrost.......get a wire diagram and start testing.

Check the heater control valve. Those are known to get stuck close which doesn't allow coolant to flow through to the heater core and gives off heat. That heater control valve is located on the firewall and straight down from the TB area. And no, the Thermostat has nothing to do with your rear defog. It's something going on with the electrical in that circuit; needs further diagnosis from someone who knows what they're doing.

I would like to know who gave that mechanic the title of "reputable".
