Default First good test day

So I bought a 95 EG k20, essentiaLly a prestine show car that is being set up for TT then HC/NASA:

I bought it about 10 months ago, drove it with crap tires and open diff, street pads twice at the track and had buyers remorse. Installed 4.7final drive, quaiffe LSD, and stage 2 clutch, carbo tech xp10/xp8 pads, dot 4 fluid and 205 toyo R888. Then it had an electrical fire. It got a new harness and rewire. I went back out and it was repeatedly over heating. I drained and burped the coolant but could not rid the issue. Installed full size radiator and camber kit. Got the car out 2 weeks ago and was giddy with how fast it is.

1st time out with -2.4 f / -1.8 rear I was 1 second faster than my s2000 with coilovers (900f/700r) HKS, camber and toyoR888 255f/275r. So needless to say I am very pleased.

Car rotates nicely on turn in, would like more rotation on throttle lift. My first FWD so it's difficult for me to feel if it's rotating/drifting sometimes. Also the brakes are a very different feel. It kind of locks or skips into the braking zone. When the brakes get hot the pedal doesn't get soft but it's hard to slow the car. Ducting needed!

Ducting needed and perhaps a higher temp pad.

Couple questions:

1: Do you find it easier or more consistent in a braking zone to row the gears as opposed to skipping a gear? example: Shifting from 5th to 3rd or from 5th to 4th then to 2nd?

2: I think it's an optical illusion but your left arm looks a lot bigger than your right. Video does strange things I suppose, unless you are lop sided, then I'm sorry for pointing that out.

maybe just me but I think if you slow your steering input or just stop the left right a million times the car will grib better.

basically try a 1/8 turn for the hole turn and keep it there and see were the car wants to exit and than adjust the turning of the wheel next lap.

Looks like you can use a little more camber in the rear, maybe the front too if you want more grip.
What hot air pressures were you running?

Funny you ask about the shifting in the braking zone. I am use to the s2000 shifter. Very positive and clear. This rsx/cable set up it too vague for my liking. I skipped gears first few times out and got a little scared of possible results. Want the hybrid racing unit .

Arms are the same. No special shirts in the closet. Vmaybe I have the gopro set wrong?

The brakes are GSR and again this fwd/civic stuff all new to me. So whatever pads you can suggest I will give it a go. I did the xp10/8 because it worked well with s2000

What did you set your tire pressure to? bigger rotors and brake ducts will help with a lot.

I am sure my imputs will improve. I kind of got spooked with a few tank slappers that day and realized my " seat gauge" did not know what was going on. Maybe it's a fwd thing but I have a hard time feeling what the car is doing. 2 of those turns are decreasing radius so being fwd I am trying to trail brake it in and rotate while slowing the car. Need more seat time with this car. I will say fwd is more fun than I ever thought it could be

I had 33 front and 29 rear. Went to add a few pounds and my air source crapped out. I wanted to add air as tire wear was to the base of the triangles. Never got the pyrometer out as I was just thrilled to be finally running the car

Spring rates sadly are 450f/500r. I want to go way up but will custom cage first then address the coilovers. I know this was hurting me in the bus stop chicane.

I thought you looked pretty good man, thats a lot of fwd car to handle. I would bump those rear pressures up a little and see how you like it.

I ended up using a +3 psi increase over fronts this past weekend to help oversteer.

Thx. Will give that a go. My next session in 1 month. We have Daytona chump in 3 weeks so I will put the hybrid shifter in. Add a bit more camber all away around and try to break into the 1:33's next outing at PBIR.

I assume u run a lot at Sebring? I won't be there until I get a tow/trailer set up

I have run more Roebling surprisingly considering its 4+ hrs away and Sebring is about 2.

I have a decent amount of laps at Sebring too though. I would get those brakes sorted before you head out to Sebring, with that much motor and the summer upon us you are going to fadeeee without some ducts and proper pads.
