ENGINE GRIME!! Everywhere! How to clean 20+ years of crap. PICS!
This new car of mine needs a very nice wash under the hood, the factory paint looks to be great underneath and just has years of soot and grime and oilly residue on it all over the place, on every harness, shock towers, fuse box covers etc.
Heres a few general pics

I was hoping there was a prodcut that was best to use on this sort of thing that wouldnt break the bank, Im assuming engine cleaner is to harsh, but I think simple liquid soap would be to weak and require far to much elbow grease.
Is there a product I can simple spray on, let it do its thing, and wash off with a hose?
I dont have a power washer, but I could POSSIBLY borrow one, but Id prefer not to
Any advice is appreciated

Buy wd40 and simple green. And some gloves.
Spray the wd40 first work it in with with your hand the grease will slide right off. Than either use engine degreaser to clean it off or simple green. It will look brand new with little effort trust me.

wd-40 is a solvent. i've used it to remove leftover glue residue after removing emblems. im gonna try it on some residue in my bay.

spray solvent let it sit for few minutes and spray more and work it with a brush.
then wash it off with water.
have the engine warm and spray some WD40 it will soften up all the baked on grease.
you can even drive around with it
or jus spray the engine with engine oil and let it idle for like 30 min
it will get the dirt out of all the pores
start from firewall then move to either shock tower and go around the engine bay

Haha I know rich just. Haven't had the time working my 9 to 5 side work and planting my *** in the garage though so ill update tonight after work..
This is a better option if you can find it. I have used it in the past and it cuts through all of the **** in the engine bay well without harming the finish.
