I cant figure out what is wrong with my 97 lude, it sputters and acts as if it wants to die when I give it a lot of gas, but if i gently accelerate it works fine. I've replaced spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap & rotor, air filter, oil change, oil filter, gas filter, bought new gas tank. There are two things that I can think of that may be causing it to fail to accelerate which may be exhaust clogged or my fuel pump may be going out but I can clearly here it working fine I'm not really sure though, need some extra advice on what it could possibly be.

 

are you using the original computer? ..if so the types of problems you are describing could be clogged up egr passages, there is a write up on how to clean them up, the correct way involves drilling into your manifold though, but the way ive done it is by removing the egr, then placing a hose in the passage and putting the other end in a seafoam can. you then turn the engine on and let the car suck all of the seafoam, after that turn off the car and let the seafoam soak for a few minutes. Then turn the car back on and accelerate it to keep it from dying on you. After all of the smoke clears out you should feel your car idle better. btw if your using your stock exhaust check your cat, that could also be clogging your exhaust if your feel that another issue. hope this helps

 

Ok thanks for advice my cat is not.clogged took it to get looked at, but is still won't accelerate right when giving it a lot of gas, the last two things I have to replace are the injectors and the fuel pump itself.

 

did you find out what was wrong with it. I have the same problem.

 

Figured out my problem seems that my voltage was wrong for the throttle position sensor so it kept blowing up the sensors finally got it right and ruins perfect for now

 

Would you mind elaborating how you diagnosed and repaired this issue? I have been experiencing the same issue and it is incredibly annoying (as I'm sure you know).

Put a safety pin in middle wire of the throttle positioning sensor it should read a voltage of .5 at idle and 4.5 at wide open throttle worked for me perfect grabbed perfect once was done

 

Ok hold on a second here. You have post 3 separate thread about having cars problems. Are these issues on the same car or different cars?
