Default What scca class am I really in?

I keep autocrossing locally with a club that uses scca rules but they always have a hard time classes me, I don't think they have experience with Hondas. And I end up racing in D Mod which I thought I would be in street prepared or street mod but I'm not sure and either are they.

2000 civic dx hatch
Full interior
Sparco race seat
Koni yellow/ground controls
Adjustable camber kits
Function 7 lca's
B18c-r with matching lsd tranny swap using ac and power steering
No motor mods on the b18c
I run Bridgestone re11 or slicks depends on the weather
Apexi cat back with high flow cat

So what class is this, and what puts me there from the lower class exactly, I've tryed looking at the scca rules online but cant figure it out and can't find a place to buy a rule book to make it easier either

What kind of mod would they think I have to put me in d mod? I just looked online we have a half dozen sm cars, no smf class though, there's fwd and rwd in the local sm class

what state/region are you in? SMF is still just a supplementary class. if your car group is small, they might just keep it SM. which you would fall into if there is no SMF.

I'm racing with CART, it's connecticut autocross and rally team, they use scca rules for classing. It is pretty small, I'd say average of 60 cars and only race every 3-4 weeks

By "slicks," do you mean "R-comps," which are DOT-legal race tires, e.g. Hooiser A6s, Kumho V710s, or BFG R1-S? Or do you mean really mean "slicks," which are typically Goodyear, Hoosier, or Avon slicks, which are NOT DOT-legal?

R-comps are allowed in SM, but not slicks.

The SCCA Solo rulebook is the same online or printed. In order to understand the rulebook, you need to be familiar with the allowed modifications from the "lowest" (Stock) classes on up, as they build on each other.

For example, what's allowed in Street Prepared ruleset is also allowed in Street Mod. A potentially confusing exception to this would be tires, since Stock class allows R-comps but a "higher" classes like the ST (Street Tire) classes (STC, STX, STU, STR, etc.) allow way more modification in terms of suspension and powertrain, but are limited to street tires with a UTGC treadwear rating of 140 or higher.

Also, remember that the rules are written to specifically dictate what you CAN do. If it doesn't say specifically that you can do it (or is allowed in the ruleset of a lower class), 99% of the time the interpretation is that mod is prohibited.

The "slicks" are Hoosier a3So3 tires, 225/45/13, using 8" diamond racing rims with a crazy offset, not sure any numbers but they stick out front the car a good 2" at least. I dont really know anything about them especially since I was given the them for free. Do these tires take me out of SM class?

Ok do I just read the Hoosier a3s03 is an r comp tire so I guess I'm still in SM class... Thanks for your help guys, maybe I'll finally get some wins being in the correct class, the annoying part is if I had known this last year I would have a bunch of trophies now, o well, getting ready to make up for that this year I guess

Your car looks like its in SM. If those race slicks are DOT legal then you are in SM, but if not you will more than likely be in a Prepared class.

Rules are here:

Great thread, I figured i would ask this since theres seems to be knowledgable people here.

Just joined the SCCA and have competed in two autocrosses with them prior through my college auto club.

both times they classified me as SM however I have been reading up on the classifications and I think i should be in Street Prepared

My set up is:

1994 Integra Ls
5spd swap to GSR tranny
Cut ebaichs on KYBs
ebay cat back
ebay short ram intake
pulled front fenders with 8" tr motorsports
225/45/15 hankook RS-3

They said the transmission swap put me in SM but the Street Prepared rules say that parts, ie. engines, transmissions, etc., may be swaped from model to model as long as the models are in the same class.

here is the problem depending on where i look the Ls and GSR are in different classes. some say LS is G Stock and other say H Stock. everywhere i look a GSR is G Stock

if anyone knows what class i would be in it would help greatly for i am planning on starting to autocross seriously thank you

That is definitely legal for DSP.
LS/GSR/ITR are all classed in DSP on the same line, so complete USDM engines and/or transmissions can be swapped (can't mix gear ratios/final drives from different transmissions, can't do LS-VTEC, no B20, no JDM motors, etc).

Ok so maybe im just new to terminology but i have never heard of "DSP" is it short for something like "D Stock Prepared"?

i found this chart that puts Type R, GSR, and LS in separte classes(D Stock, G Stock, H Stock)

DSP = D Street Prepared.

An Integra LS with a GSR transmission is legal in DSP.

I'm not trying to call you out or anything im just throwing out what I've always been told. My understanding of all the rules were that you must use the same parts from the same year. i.e: 94 ls integra auto to manual swap you gotta use a 94 ls manual transmission. Given, NO ONE will know what so ever I'm just telling the rules. Honestly stay in dsp, especially since no one will ever know. I just like for people to know the exact rules..

I thought it said from from model to model as long as they two models are in the same stock category, that was my understanding of the SCCA SOLO rules for Street Prepared

Street Prepared Class D
Acura
Integra (‘86-’89 all)
Integra (‘90-’93 all)
Integra (‘94-’01 all including
Type R)
you can only back date and forward update in those three year groupings. for 94 ls, you can do a forward update up to a type r conversion. you can't go down to a 93 gsr. that's in a different year grouping. like if you had a 92 ls, you could only update to a 93 gsr. understand now?

yes, you could go further and remove the sunroof and skin it like a RS/typeR.

I raced this past weekend in sm but another civic (96 hatch gsr swap, full suspension) was in fsp. Can I race in fsp if I use my re11 tires instead of dot slicks or is it the itr swap putting me in sm class, I thought I remember seeing that the integra gsr and type r are in the same class so if my motor swap puts me in sm wouldn't a gsr be in sm as well...

The regular Honda civic is a h stock car, the gsr is g stock, and the itr is a d stock correct? So if you put a motor from a higher class in your car your out of fsp right?

Rules listed below. On next page is explanation that it is not xSP legal to put an integra motor into a Civic chassis EVER.

God... **** autoX. I love rally rules. 2 wheel drive? Ok you're P, G2 or G5. Limit yourself to stock motor/trans/brakes with no update/backdate? You're in Production. Want an open class where anything is allowed? Are you forced induction or above 3.0L displacement? Then you're G5. Otherwise you're G2. Now go race!
