GAS LENS VS. REG COLLET BODY
I was doing some research about sticking your tungsten out far and Just thought you all would like to see these eye opening pictures! I knew gas lenses provided better coverage but I did not know it was like this! Really cool pictures.

i just ordered a replacement wp17 style torch for my HF tig. looking into cups, lenses and tugston. are there certain gas lenses i should be looking for or are the sizes pretty much standard?
Well typically there is small diameter gas lens and a large diameter gas lense..It depends on what you wanna do honestly. What are you trying to do?
It can make your stainless and steel welds transform. Which size did you get?
Most people shoot for the biggest cup available. In our kind of fabrication, large diameter lens #12 is what seems to be the most sought after in the weldcraft torches. That's what I use primarily for my weldcraft torches.
For tight spots I use a small diameter lens, with a #8 cup or a ~4" long #6 cup.
Best way I have found to get a hold of these parts, get on ebay, find 'weldingcity.com', search your torch ex wp17, wp20 etc. In their listings, you will see they include a chart with all the part numbers that will work with your torch.
Be careful, I just use their chart, because I have found other wp17 charts on the internet with incorrect part numbers, which led to an expensive first gas lens setup.

Man I have never seen a cup that long! Do you prefer to use that instead of a big cup with tungsten sticking out for tight spots like collectors etc?
If you have tried the tungsten stick out method, how far have you been able to stick your tungsten out with the 12# gas lense? What Argon flow rate did you have to use with the stickout?
