Lol random question. I was just wondering if anyone was towing with there cars? For example towing a trailer with another car on it.
I was looking at buying a truck but I don't really need to tow my cars very often. Plus I already have three cars do not need a truck and trailer also no space. So is anyone towing there cars with another car on a trailer?
I have a e30, civic and integra so there all light cars. The integra has a fully built motor and LHT aftercooole JRSC (not done yet) and the e30 we are looking at a 1uzfe swap. So they should have enough power. Just wondering if this is possible so I don't have to buy a truck on top of my cars.
Problem can the subframe handle it?
If this topic has been covered let me know.

I've seen cars pull cars all the time but it's not good for them. A car isn't designed to tow anything. I personally would tow no more than a jet ski with a car
I've towed a ram 2500 diesel with a Mazda 626 5 speed once and it wasn't happen but only way at the time so had to do it. I would highly recommend against this though lol
The most I've towed is a pair of jetskis with my NA TSX. I wouldn't do that with your other cars because of the design of the chassis with the power. Even my brother's turbo jeep does better than the V8 stuff. But to use the cars, nah..

Your first concerns should be strength and safety because the only reciever they make for my car is curt or hidden hitch, bs both are class 1 weight rating which is low like 200lbs tongue weight. i wouldnt expect these to pull any car even my gutted hatch. The one i built will easily handle pulling and braking weight of a towed car. I havent needed to tow another car yet but i would do it only on the flat, if pulling over mountain or hills get a pickup.

Or a trailer with its own braking system like the uhaul trailers as you start to slow down the pressure on the tongue activates the trailer brakes
An empty car trailer will probably set your back bumper on the ground. Trucks have suspension designed to hold the tongue weight.
You may be able to get away with a tow bar or dolly, but it will be very hard the car, as it is not designed for it.
Just get a truck and dont ruin your cars.

Its not recommended to tow more then 1000 pounds because of the physical limitations of the frame of the car. Regardless of how many mods you have or what kind of tow hook you have.
My buddy in his EF with a b16 towed my hatch once, about 15 miles--It was miserable for his car, and it was our only option, although it made for some funny pictures.
Just rent a uhaul trailer and find someone with a truck and pay for the gas, Thats what im doing with my car to get it to the tuner.

Lol it was worth a try. I was thinking the cars would have enough power but was mainly worried about chassis and brakes.
Lol the cost isn't the real big issue its having space for another truck and trailer on top of my three cars. Prob gonna end up picking up a f-150 and selling one of the cars =(

as explained above it's not a matter of modding... unless you're driving a full tube chassis car then this is a dumb idea.
Trucks have full frames not unibody... that's why they can tow... the potential even with upgraded brakes, engine, trailer, hitch etc etc etc is that you rip your car in half.
Maybe with frame rail connectors but again this is just getting into stupid "well you could do it" territory.

This isn't true, there are plenty of uni body suvs and crossovers on the market that can tow just fine.
I have a 96 accord and tow a 15' aluminum boat with it, however I have an extensively modified hitch.
Additional bracing that ties into the underside of the spare tire well prevents the "up and down" movement caused by the tongue weight of your trailer.
It also has a class 3 reciever instead of the original class 1.
Even with all that being said, my boat and trailer only weighs 1200 pounds, I actually took it to a truck stop and weighed it.
My tongue weight is properly set at 10% of the total weight as well so I have 120 pounds actually sitting on my hitch when towing.
Tongue weight is one of the tricky things I've dealt with.
I originally though the less the better, and you can adjust it by adjusting the load on the trailer, height of your ball mount etc.
The problem with low tongue weight I ran into was lack of stability.
Particularly on a ff chassis the rear would struggle for traction, especially over bumps as the trailer can actually try and "lift" the back of the car off the road if tongue weight isn't set properly.
The last thing I want to make clear is I am still towing within the limits set by Honda from what my car can safely tow.
I do not think a civic towing another 2000+ lb car is a good idea.

unless its a ridgeline lol.
Iv towed plenty of **** with civics. ya its harder on the car but you gotta do what you gotta do. I think its pretty cool you built that hitch dude. just be safe and know what your car can handle.
