How do I identify my tranny? Bought the car used

Is there a vin number on it?

 

There is a vin plate on the transmission. It should be located on the transmission side close to the radiator right were the transmission meets the engine block. If you have a stock transmission from a 2000 Civic SI the stamp should read a few numbers followed by "EM1", then a lot more numbers.
