Default exhaust/resonator question

Hey guys,

I have a few questions. I have a 95 del sol si with a b16a. It has a vibrant header followed by a 12inch vibrant resonator then some mandrel bent piping and a greddy muffler. I want to get a tanabe medallion touring catback exhaust. Does that come with a resonator? If so, should I just get rid of the one that's on my car now? I don't wanna attract police. I want a nice deep tone.

Thanks in advance
Jamie

just switch out your muffler with a vibrant stealth or magnaflow.

you already have the piping, if you want it quiet, then a muffler is all you need

Ok thanks. I don't think they make just a tanabe touring muffler either. Hmm...

I looked it up and it does have resonator installed.

Where is your current resonator now, typically they are installed on the mid pipe, you will replace your mid pipe and get rid of the resonator anyway I would think.

I am confused, are you running a cat? I am not following you where the empty space would be?

Typically you have headers to the factory cat, to the mid pipe to muffler?

No. Im not running a cat. this is what was on here when i bought the car.
The picture you see is the resonator. Located directly behind the header.
then some piping. then followed by a greddy muffler.

I dont know why its like this. i thought it was a bit strange as well.
Anyways, if i were to delete the resonator that is on there now and just go with the Touring catback exhaust then there would be lots of empty space im guessing where the cat should be.

Im confused now. Do people normally run resonators in place of cats?

Why not put in a performance cat? or a test pipe, I assume you have a CEL for no secondary o2 sensor?

i could do that. i was just curious because i dont really want it loud and raspy. Just a nice deep tone is what i want. I have a feeling a test pipe might make it that way. And no, my CEL isnt on

Just a thought. But if you put a cat on there. you'll pass emissions and be quieter. Win win solution?

for a nice deep tone, tanabe is the way to go. the catbacks come with resonators [at least the crz and gsr catbacks do, i'd imagine its similar design just different piping shape]

as far as test pipe, a pipe is a pipe imo. coworker just put an ebay pipe in his ek. it farts smoke all over the trunk now but imo its the rings haha
