Icon2 d16y7 blown head gasket

Hello,

I am new to this forum, but I have a 96 Civic LX and I believe that I have blown my head gasket. Since I am in this predicament, I was going to do a y8 head swap since I have to remove the heads to change the gasket as is now. I called a parts supplier and they needed to know what cast my current heads were so they could match them. I looked about this forum and found that the cast number is above to exhaust area. Mine says P2A-3 is this correct? I cannot find anything anywhere that corresponds with this number even while googling it. Please help. Also, Will I need a Vtec solenoid for this swap? Thanks!

Er. what? They are going to match the cast numbers? Then they are going to order you another Y7 head.

Click this link. You must have missed this one.

Well the guy at Odessa said that me saying that my engine was a Y7 meant nothing to him, that he needed the cast number so he could match a Y8 head that would fit, is this wrong? Will any Y8 head fit on my block? Also, I looked at that post and I couldn't find anything there. Both my year and my head code are not on there. More specifically it says P2A-3. I just need to know what head I need to buy so I don't waste shipping time because I bought the wrong head.

What do you mean "any Y8 head"? You need a Y8 head. Period. Why are you attempting to do a head swap if you have no clue what parts you are buying? Just trying to understand this.

I also gave you a link to look up head codes. Did you not even look at it? You're making it harder than it needs to be.

And do you plan on putting the Y7 intake manifold on the Y8 head? Cause if you are you might as well get a Y7 head.

Click this link and find the section on mini-me swaps.

Ok, no reason to complicate the situation. Just put a stock head on the car or get it rebuilt

1st post your location so if anyone know of a machine shop they can help you out.
To mill and rebuild the head would take a good shop only a few hours and approx 250-300 out of your pocket..

Check the specs of the blocks deck

Order all oem honda parts
Do a timing belt unless it has been done 5,000 miles ago. you are already in there.
