How can ensure this RHD Crx isnt stolen??
So Im trying to buy this RHD imported Crx. The car is in Canada ( so am I ) and the guy has it on the road but he has it registerred under different vins or something. It still has all the original JDM vins in OEM places
I simply want to check this vin number to tell if its stolen, clean, whatever I can know.

I really want this car, RHD's dont pop up in my area
Hope you guys can help!
Cheers

Not sure how it works in Canada but that would be a grey market vehicle here in the states. I would imagine you would have a tough time getting that car registered.
Im not to worried about registering the car, I have that coverred ( I would be using a title for a scrapped car I have and just saying I converted it to RHD or something)
I just want to be SURE the car isnt stolen, etc
I dont want to buy a stolen car no way

What 4drEF said, take the vin to the DMV or police station and they will be able to run the vin number for you.
Also run the one on the title.

hey Vagitarian, FYI, what you are trying to do is highly ILLEGAL and if caught its a federal offense. You cant try to pass another car for another car. Thats jail time.
Save yourself the trouble from going to Jail and do it the right way.

He's trying to buy the car and doesn't want to get scammed.
I live in Canada. Easy solution, go to registries, look up the vin, it SHOULD be under the original vin you have posted, they do not change i for registration. So if the car is valid. Yes, we do have an odd illegal import here and there, registires will help you answer this.
I have owned both a jdm Del Sol and Celica GTR both used the original vin for registration
For all you know, it could have been one of the many cr-x's i've imported in over the last decade

The guys doesnt have any sort of paperwork for the car, my first option wasnt going to swap vins, Id like to register it as a JDM import, but I didnt have any knowledge of how the car got into the country and the guys emails were unknowledgeable
I went and looked at it tonight, way to much rocker / rear quarter rust and the guy was firm on 4k even with a few other problems. I walked
