Installing Springs

I'm helping my friend install spoon springs in and i havent done them myself yet but it would be good experience. Do i need a spring compressor? and is there any helpful tips you guys can give me?

c-speedracing.com used to have a real nice howto on how to do it with pictures and everything, not there anymore though, only a coilover how to..wonder what happened to it.

A spring compressor would be very helpful
