03 tls dilema
Ok so ive saved a good amount of money to buy a new car because im tired of transmission failures with my 03 tls. the only problem is just yesterday i had the genius idea of possibly swapping the 6smt from the 2003 cls. reason being that i considered this was i couldnt find any good deals on an eg, ek, or an s2k. Also i just couldnt help but look at how sexy a lowered tls is from the back end
im going to continue researching this to see if anyone has done it, but still would appreciate it some of you gave me some feedback

Man, the transmission on these TLs must go out often. That is just insane. I love the look of these vehicles, but the transmission scares me off like most people. Good Luck and Keep Us Updated.
Update:
so i spent a good 4 or 5 hours reading up on this today before i went to work and i came across this
"First, it is straight forward to put in a 3rd gen tl/7th gen AV6/03-07 oddy tranny in a 2nd gen TL provided that the TL was a 00+ which had a 5spd in it already, everything bolts up but you will have to transfer a couple of parts from your old tranny, the trans range switch and the oil cooler/filter assembly, other than that it is a straight bolt up. Now if you have a 4spd TL/CL you will also have to get a new engine wire harness and ECU from a 5spd TL/CL and may* have to do a little repin/rewire for the chassis connection to the ECU."

ive seen numerous people on acurazine swapping the 6smt from the 3gen tl into their 2nd gens 00'+ and theres a few people im waiting to hear back from that have done this many times. also the reason for transferring the trans range switch and oil cooler/filter assembly is so it doesnt run in limp mode. i hope this helps put an end to a lot of future threads for tls transmission failures and what to do about it; if your transmission goes out (which it more then likely will) it may be more cost efficient to do the swap from the 04-06 tl. ill update this thread when i learn more
