Default Bakerskater11's 95 Accord build thread (slowly)

I picked up this 95 Accord the summer before I turned 16. Non VTEC 5 speed in pretty good condition inside and out. We ended up paying $4000 for it which I was probably too much, but we got it from a lot so we pretty much expected to be paying a bit.

Plans:
Paint bumper to match car color
fix the rust on the fender
get oem front bumper lights+amber corners
paint side skirts/lips to match
powdercoated valve cover and heat shield white
*possibly paint door trims to match depending on the color match I get from this paint*

Here she is when I got her

First things first, i had to get her on the ground. Ended up finding a set of Tokico struts and Tein springs mounted and ready to go for $300 a few months before my Birthday. Talked the parents into it and got an early present

1.5" drop was good, decided to tint the tail lights which has now been altered back to stock. bad idea in the first place

Then came the HID kit 8000k bulbs. I absolutely love them. Will never go back to stock halogens

Well, all this was good until a little incident in the winter involving snowy roads, and a mailbox resulted in this...

The car sat this way for close to a year, with me being utterly pissed at myself for allowing it to get screwed up in the first place, I never had the money to do anything with it.

After a while i decided enough was enough. so i picked up a bumper cover off craigslist...in the pouring rain after a 30 min drive and didn't pay much attention to the condition. Got it home and realised it was warped, chipped, and cracked. This left me even more unmotivated to fix it...

Luckily a week or two later I found a 96 bumper with good paint, and bumper lights to go with so I picked it up.

in the past few weeks I ordered clear corner lights just to match the front bumper lights. Will be switching all back to stock soon, and picked up a quart of Malachite Green Pearl to match the bumper, fix the fender, and paint all side skirts/lips the same color as the car. I'll post more pics this week with the progress on the painting of the lips. Next weekend I hope to spray the bumper

here's a little more on the 95 lip install on the 96 bumper

I decided since you have to cut the center of the lip a bit to fit it to the 96 bumper due to some of the plastic being in the way, it leaves nowhere to mount the middle section of the lip, which causes issues for some people with it not being mounted solid and falling off.

My solution was to install the 95 lip, drilling holes and bolting where I could, and using screws around the curve of the bumper to get it to fit flush. I then took the 96 lip, and slid it behind the 95 lip and after a bit of worked got the bolts in the stock locations for the 96 lip bolted up. Essentially sandwiching the 95 lip to the bumper.

It not fits solid with no issues.

Future plans are:
oem bumper lights+amber corners
get the whole car the same color again
fix minor dents and such
Wheels Wheels Wheels Wheels Wheels
I'd like to get adjustable coilovers sometime in the future...
Rear fog
Intersection lights
Eventually i'd like to paint the entire car dark metallic purple
And..powdercoat the valve cover/heat shield white

I love my CD5...I've had a rollercoaster ride with it, wanting to trade it for something else. Even posting it on craigslist a few times for cash or trade as long as I had another car lined up to buy but when it came to biting the bullet I could never get rid of her. After the asthetics are cleaned up I'm gunna piece together a little boost setup to get me through until I can H swap it

Well, I sprayed my mudflaps yesterday to see how it matched and my it came out a more blueish teal color rather then the dark green that my car is. I didn't expect it to match perfect but I expected it to be close...I'm going to spray the skirts with more coats and lay it on thicker to try and make it look darker because on some parts of the mudflap it looked closer then others. I'll post pics later today

Picked these up today 14" mesh's for $100. Will be swappin out my tires on my steelies for these later on this week. Just a quick fix until i can find some lower profile 14" tires which may be a bit challenging.

And here's the valve cover I picked up from the scrap yard. Cleaned and ready to hit the powder coater which i'm gettin done for free.

Picked up a quart of Jet Black for the lips on the car so that I can at least get those looking good while I find an alternate route to matching my bumper with the rest of my car since the quart of malachite green pearl I bought didn't match at all.

Got one wheel on today, It's gunna be a slow process since I'm taking the tires off the wheels that are mounted already and using them on the new wheels. Can't jack up the car outside my dad's work and swap them out all at once, so I'm running a spare wheel one day at a time, while the tires are mounted. So by mid next week they should all be on.

I need to get 2 more 185's for the front wheels. The 195's I put on there temporarily look WAY bigger then the 185's...

Offset looks good for now though

I'll post more pictures once I get all of them mounted. And next week if the weather holds up i'll be gettin the lips done as well
