Oil type? H22A1?
I have a 1994 prelude VTEC with an H22A1. I'm not sure what type of oil to use. I want to use grade 10W-30 because of the temperature right now, but I'm not sure what kind of oil to use. In the Honda manual it says to use API Service SG or SH. I think API Service SG and SH are obsolete though. Anyways, I think if you go to an Auto Zone, most of the oil is API Service SN or SM. It also says in the manual to use Energy Conserving II. What should I use for my car? It is a stock H22A1. Thanks.
the SG, SH, SM... readings are the oil standards. I believe this year we are at SN... SN will meet all you requirements for SG or SH (backwards compatibility). if you were driving a new car that called for SN, and you were putting SG or SH in it, i would be a little worried... Oil has come a long way in 18 years....

SH and SG, SM, etc. Are energy saving grades. The higher the better. Oil improves every year. You're fine with whatever 5W or 10W30 u find at the store.
