BOOST!! finally guys, it finally went past 0!! got some issues tho...
hey, it's 3:45am here. just got back from working on the car. i know some of you guys read my post on the leaking exhaust manifold. well i got some copper sealant and BAM it worked!! I'm boostin 5psi and loving it! I was about to give up too! Thanks for all your help!
Conditions:
need to get my carsound cat welded on, running 2.25" OEM type r exhaust
dp not all the way bolted up, missing 2 screws
wg dumping on my dp inside the engine bay
egt connection might not be so good, lost 1 of the screws
AFC hack w/ dsm 450cc injectors
EGT probe on the 2nd runner from the passenger side
Issues:
EGT Idle 800F, Boost 5psi WOT 1200F!!!!
A/F gauge reads RICH under boost and even after i let off the gas
BOV is NOT making any noise. I WOT it and nothing after I let off the gas...
i tried turning the little adjustment thing on the back of the HKS SSQ and it didn't do anything...
help on these issues before i blow my car up!
thanks

first of all, the best advice i can give you, dont rely on that a/f gauge, Get a DIY wideband if you want to monitor it correctly.
Second of all, as for the bov problem make sure you dont have too many tees off one vac source, ie. dont run your boost gauge, bov, and wastegate vac line off the same vac source.
You said it doesnt make any noise? it doesnt even surge? double check the connections, and let us know what you find.

i tapped the bov off the brake booster line and nothing else is tapped from there.
boost gauge is tapped off the fpr.
the bov makes absolutely no sound. i just hear the turbo itself

rev it with the engine bay open and put your hand over the BOV to see if it releases, if it doesnt, try pushing open the vlave with your hand or somethignthat wont break the blocking plate, my BOV stuck a little when i got it,and with some WD40 and some working thru it went great

ok guys, update:
BOV was retapped from the brake booster line to the fpr line. It now works, but i can't get it to be louder...which direction to turn the **** on a hks ssq to make it louder?
wastegate dump was redone so it doesn't dump on my a/c compressor.
turbo timer is going on today.
dp is getting redone tommorow (leaking)
carsound cat going on tommorow
ongoing issues:
egt's 1300 at 70mph??
egt's 1200 under 4 psi of boost ??
is this right?

your egts look correct to me, 1200 is actually a litte low if thats measured at the top of 3rd gear.

Just pretend you're blowing through ONE straight straw....it's different than blowing through one that would be splitting into thirds wouldn't it? I don't know how to explain it, but that's how it is...

hahahaa.
thanks guys.
good thing on the egt's then. i thought they were high because people were telling me 900 when cruisin

if i'm getting 4psi of boost at wot and i have a tial wg, does that mean i have a boost leak?
do i need a boost retard system?? someone was telling me i needed one...
i just want to run 7psi-8psi of boost
i just want to run 7psi-8psi of boost
when are you hitting full boost... 4psi is very low... i but one of your couplers is not on completely or has a hole in it.
so i'm getting a boost leak?
crap...
i don't even know what spring is on my tial...
i said i wanted to boost 6-7 psi...
also, my oil return is half clamped on there...i was told that it's not under pressure and that i don't have to worry about it

1 more question:
i bought a universal carsound high flow cat, it needs to be welded on in place of my stock cat, but i was wondering what do i do with my stock 02 sensors??\
if i need to get a bung welded on, where do i put it? before, after the cat...

man you really need to research what you're getting before you buy it!!!
i dont even know you, and just from your posts i can tell you're an impulsive buyer!!!!!!!
make sure your oil return is secure... who cares if it's not under pressure, do you want oil to leak out?

sutrusu. you know me!! we've been talking so much, i pretty much know you.
yeah i don't know what i buy, i just buy it...
what info do you have on the carsound cat?

These are the same kinda posts I'd be making if I was going turbo. You remind me of myself! Good luck
everything will turn out good
everything will turn out good
oil return is not pressurized, true, but fix it anyway, oil leaks is a bitch
BOV, try to get a shorter length of the BOV vaccum route to the source...the shorter is usaually the louder on HKS...turn it clockwise to tightened it, and vice versa..check for surge first before a lopud noise, make sure you're not surging
egt look normal IMO
where is your vac source for the boost gauge is connected ? and does the needle on the gauge respond very very rapidly or slowly ?
check the needle response, a slow response usually indicate a leak on the vac line to the gauge/sender or a kink line
if all else is correct, take out the top cover of the tial and let me know the color of the rubber boot on the diaphgram..orange is .45 bar ~ 6.5psi, I believe, yellow is .3 bar ~ 4.5 psi
[edit]carsound cat, weld the bung after the cat for the secondary O2 sensor...it needs to measure the effectiveness of the cat..

thanks for your help man.
i will get that carsound welded up.
the tial is orange inside....
the needle on the boost gauge is quick to respond, no lag on it..
i don't think i have a boost leak...maybe i'll check the gauge again at WOT. my friend said it was at 5psi, but i looked at it and it read 4psi, but i haven't truly paid close attention to it...i'll look at it again and see
it feels like more than 4psi

HKS SSqv won't be loud at low boost. however when i'm on the race gas with the 28 psi boost it is VERY loud.
Solution:
More boost =]
