Single belt crank pulley
hey guys,
I recently got rid of my P/S and AC and im runing only one belt.
I was wondering if its safe to run the single belt crank pulley.

I would be wary of that because nowhere on the site or any of their distributor sites does it say anything about them being balanced and since its bolted on to the crankshaft, that's something you need to be worried about!
The problem with solid crank pulleys like the one you list is that there is no harmonic balancer on it. This absorbs the micro vibrations that the pulley sees as it rotates. If these vibrations are not absorbed they could cause vibration in the crank and very slowly, smash your bearings causing premature wear and failure. Fine for a race car that is rebuilt very often, bad for a street car that you need to get you where you're going reliably.
There is a single belt OEM pulley made for B16B CTRs but it is a JDM part. I've been told however that it too has no harmonic balancer as it is intended for race applications.
There are also machine shops that offer pulley lightening services. They shave off the parts you don't need and usually leave the harmonic balancer in place. But there are some questions as to the reliability of a machined pulley.
Might as well just leave it alone IMO. Guess I shoulda started with that.
