Few accord 02 ex coupe 4cyl issues.
Hello, i dont know anything about cars and had a few questions about some issues ive been having with my car.
1. Losing oil.
I lose about 2-3 maybe even 4 quarts of oil between my 3,000 mile oil changes.
Ive taken to my mechanic, in which he put engine dye oil to check for leaks and found 0, and didn't see any smoke coming out of the car so he said he had no idea.
I do notice that when i get in the car some mornings at 5am to come home from work theres a weird smell after starting up the car, i seem to notice it only on cold mornings.
Ive been using 5w-20 oil, was told by someone at auto zone that thicker oil may slow burning down but read online i should stick with the 5w-20?
I did park my car one morning after it rained overnight, my car was on a puddle and when i parked i heard i sort of grease sizzle on top of the puddle of water? like almost hot oil may have fell into the puddle even though we've checked for leaks already =\.
Any ideas on what could be causing burning if its possibly burning and 0 smoke coming out, if i should use thicker oil or would it be in my interest to not have work done to the car and just keep adding oil to it?
2. Jerking gears at low rpm.
Since i purchased the car in june 2011, at low rpms it will like jump when it switches gears, if i slightly let go of the gas right before it switches gears then push the gas down after it switches it doesn't jump, was real bad during winter but as its getting hotter its alot better. It's been about exactly the same for the last year besides winter,
does it mean the transmission is bad or going to be bad soon? Is it something i should just ignore until its a problem? I had transmission fluid flushed after i purchased the car.
119k at time of purchase, at 136k now, 02 accord ex coupe 4cyl auto.
Thanks so much.

the oil could be blowing in the intake manifold i had notice this happening from the lil hose on the top of valve cover leaving my intake pipe and intake manifold kinda greasy, also check your pcv valve to see if its full of oil. As for the transmission good luck these trannys suck and i still baby mine after replacing, you can try draining some fluid and replace with honda tranny fluid and a lil rislone stop slip this has worked on a couple of friends hondas including mine. but if you dont know anything about cars your gonna be forking out some cash to get these issues fixed
So im going to just take it back to the shop and get a tuneup,
should i just go ahead and get tranny fluid flushed completely again and get him to add the rislone stop slip in with it?
I dont think my spark plugs have been changed, so ill find out which kind of those are needed and go ahead and order those.
Ill tell the mechanic to check the intake manifold and pcv valve.
Anything else special i should have him check / replace while im there?
All i did since purchasing the car was all new oem belts, oem water pump, oem tensioners, tranny flush, new rotors, new breaks and new tires.

whats the best between
Lubegard 60902
Lucas Transmission fix
and
Rislone 4502?
Read somewhere that the last two are real thick, and the lubegard is not as thick and lots of shops use it.

so i took it to my friend whos a mechanic at a dealership today, says it was indeed leaking oil.
blamed valve cover gasket and front crank seal.
i had both of them replaced june 2011 when i got my timing belt replaced 120k miles, now 136k miles.
i called the honda dealership to get a price quote they said $65 for the valve cover gasket and $750 for the front crank seal..
honda also said that since crank shaft was leaking it was probably on the timing belt inwhich case ill need to replace that aswell. and that it wasnt the parts fault most likely since its so new but that the mechanic who installed it didnt roll them right (w/e that means). when i got the work done he said he wouldnt warranty the parts since i ordered all oem online, but if the dealership says its the mechanics fault what is the chance of him fixing for free minus cost of parts?

Don't like or use tranz flush machines (if that's what you had done 1st. Time) most likely wrong tranz fluid.. cause 1 problem..2nd) when seals go...they go...mechanic should have seen if crank seal was leaking when timing belt was replaced..may not have been leaking then..hmm..my bad..you had front seal & v.c. gasket replaced once..either done improperly or fake oem parts that don't fit ..too much knock off stuff out there...wow... dunno what to say about all that..except find a good import or honda tech to check & repair good luck
