97 Civic EX - code 14
ok, so my 97 ex civic was running fine. did a fluid flush (brakes, transmission, clutch and power steering) then used seafom to clean carbon xdeposits. then next day code 14 (iac). i have replaced it 3 time all with brand newe denso replacements. also wapped in a new battery and still same issue. i have done everything i can think of short of building a new harness. am i missing something?????????
Same issue here.. I've tried 4 different iacv's and the CEL just keeps coming back. Only stays off if i use a pr4 ecu over the p75 I want to use. Idle still isnt consistant. 94 LS motor tho.
got it checked out, and so far for 2 weeks no check engine light. looks like problem was ECT, water temp switch and Fan switch. ecu was receiving a signal of 225 degrees while the gauge was only reading 1/4 of the way.
so far no problems

You never mentioned an idle problem.
When an OBD2 car like yours throws code 14, you should next pull the OBD2 code with a code reader. Had you done this, you almost surely would have retrieved P0505. One possible cause for P0505 is a bad ECT sensor.

i had to use the snap on reader from the shop owner i know to find out the temp readings.

Let me try to explain. Jumping the service connector retrieves OBD1 version CEL codes from 96-00 Civics, even though they have an OBD2 ECU. OBD2 codes, however, yield more detailed information. For example, if you jump the service connector and retrieve code 14 from a 96-00 Civic and then use a code reader to retrieve OBD2 code, you will recover one of two codes - P0505 or P1508/P1509. (There is no P0515 for our Civics.) These OBD2 codes indicate a different type of problem in the idle control system and therefore are more help in pinpointing the problem.
