I am going to be getting a Honda soon... Civic VS. Accord; ideas, help?
Hey people, I am going to be purchasing a Honda soon (used) and I am leaning towards either a Civic or an Accord (I am almost positive I will get an Accord). I was just wondering which one in your opinions is the best car overall. I don't really plan on doing any mods or anything (maybe lower it...) it is going to be a daily driver. I have around 5000 bucks to spend on a car and so far all of the cars that have come up for that price have been 95 or under civics and accords. Out of both cars which model should I be looking for and why? I was doing some checks on these cars at Carpoint.com and the information on the site says that the 95EX Coupes came with a *stock* turbo?!? Is there truth in this or does some one have their head completely up theire a$$? If so is this a rare model? Or should I just ditch that all together and go for the LXV6? I personally love turbo cars and wouldn't mind owning another one.
Thanks for the help people!

if you won't be modding your car extensively, just get a 94-95 EX (sedan or coupe is your choice, they both weigh almost the same). the 94-95 ex comes with alloy wheels, sunroof, optional leather, power seats, better suspension, better motor(f22b1 is a great motor for daily driving), dual tip muffler(ooH yeah) and better cloth pattern than the lx/dx versions.
btw i've also noticed that carpoint thing and its complete BS. honda never made any factory turbo cars except for that ugly car in japan called the BEAT or something like that. the accord EX has 145 hp and 147 pd-ft torque. i wish is had 190 pd-tq(especially from a 4 cyl).
oh and FYI, a 94-95 ex 5-spd 4 cyl is quicker than the auto 95 V6 in both the 1320 and 0-60.
Bottom Line: Go with the 94-95 ex, you can't go wrong if you want a reliable and fully loaded daily driver with a pretty decent motor.
obd1 rules.

i think they're talking about the vtec that the ex engines from the 5th gen ( 94-97 ) accords come with...and jus for my 2 cents...get the accord !
Thanks for the help people, I was thinking the 94/95 5 spd would be better then the V6. How about handling? Which is the better for those...?
I was almost positive that there was never any turbo introduced in the accord(domestically). Would have been cool having some boost though... I am leaving the world of DSM's. I have a beautiful 94AWD Tsi... Selling her off though.
unreliable web source thats all..go accord..if you wanna go crazy fast get a 92-00 hatch....i wish i got one, but i still love my accord and wouldnt trade it for ****. haha just my $.02

5spd is better for a higher milage car. Less chance of transmission failure and FAR cheaper to replace if something does happen. I would never buy an auto-trannied car with more than 100k miles. It's just a ticking timebomb.
The accord EX would have been better taken care of earlier in its life. More well off ppl (in general) take better care of their things b/k they have the money to do so. Just make sure you buy a 1-owner car. No salvage. No lease returns (if you can help it). No multiple owners. Run a car-fax report to make sure....

I would suggest the accord, between the civic and accord, nto only bc I own one, but too many people beat on the civics. if you're getting a used car, you want it to be reliable, and the accord is. The civic is all too well-known for it's modifying capabilites now, that everyone and their dog is doing it. So, go more luxurious and go with the accord! Plus, it's cuter!
As when it comes to handling, the Accord no matter what model is not very good at handling because of their weight. But to answer your question the model really does not make a difference in handeling.
Oh yeah...? Handling sucks... Ouch. Thats no good, what about the Preludes VS. Civics then? How is that?
how bout the '03 accord v6? 240 hp? :-D too many civics out there anywayz, and i swear if i see another riced out civic i am going to scream ! anywho yeah prelude is not bad either

Accord. You will out grow the Civic very quickly. Plus down the road the H22A prelude engine is an easy swap (195-205hp). I/h/e + engine w/install for aroud $4200. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Ex: My friend just bought a 95' Accord cause he was looking for something bigger. He's going to sell his 98 civic.
Although case in point for the civic - intergra parts interchangability (seats/drop-in GSR engine in VX hatch/rims/etc). More used parts availible (if you want to go that way) in general too. That's definately one sore point on the accord....I'm surrounded by all these nice used lightwieght rims that fit only 4x100....grrrr
How long do you plan to drive the car???
definately the accord...
i've always had them and unless you're gonna be doing any moding it's a better car to have.
plus it's got more room to live with.
i sometimes drive a '94EX with the works and it doesn't even compare to a civic ride. and for $5000 or $6000 you can get a nice one.
if you're still looking i've got a '97 LX sitting around

prelude vs. civic.
Very little room in the back of a prelude. It REALLY is 2+2...its a freakin bookshelf back there. Can be hard to find (i like them though). The accord EX handles well. It has wider, lower profile sportier tires, a rear sway bar and slightly sportier springs and shocks (different rates/valved differently).
you might want to check your insurance rates too. I know they can class preludes akwardly...even for just liability...
