Default Cheap skinnies?

Does anyone here run cheap skinnies (tires)?

If so, what kinda tire/wheel setup is it?

And how does it look?

Thanks!

I think i saw here before that some of the guys over thailand or malaysia are using motorcycle tires in their skinny rims.

Will try to look for the link.

lol thats smart if the tires aren't as much as typical skinnies, which are WAY over priced.

Here in my country when there was no slick dealer, i tried to canvass on how much would it cost and its cheaper here. Almost half the price. But then again thats here in my country.

Also no point of running it cause there is MH distributor here already.

When I had a pair of weld magnums on my neon, I used a pair of 165 Federal tires. I think I paid like $110 new for the pair, mounted and balanced. The weight of a street tire and a race tire is way different though, so it's kind of defeating the purpose. It will still be lighter than a 195-205 on a 6.5"-7" wheel though. But if you're really worried about the weight then you'll want to spend the money on a real race tire.

And a speed rating up to 118mph... Not good. Also weighs 12lbs.

I've been using those Conti's for the past two months on the street and at the strip. For half the price of true skinnies and only 12lbs they work well. My car has a stock K20 and only traps 109mph, but I am working on a remote M90 supercharger setup. Even then if it traps 120-130, those 2-12 extra mph for a couple seconds will be fine.

VX wheels [9lbs] and Walmart Nexen 155/80/13 which in Canada are under $50 a piece. They also make a 165/80/13 which is a little taller [23.5 vs 22.8 for 155's]. The speed rating of tires has a big safety factor and realistically is based on sustained speed not the 2-3 seconds at the end of the track you are actually beyond that rating.

Whats the real advantage of running rear skinnies? I have heard several things and just wanna weed out the bs. I've heard 1. They help stability and 2. They help pick up ET and MPH...whats true?

Lighter wheel, Lighter tire cuz rubber is fawking heavy! that equals less Un sprung weight. less rotational mass that the car has to pull going down the track. You can pick up some speed and in turn will net you a lower time

I figured that, I had heard claims of 4mph just by switching to the rear skinnies and .5+ taken off et's. Just wanna see if this is true before looking into buying a pair for my Integra

haha well that may be possible but its hard to tell cuz everyone setup is different ya know? way to many variables to say "if you putt this skinnies on you will shave a full second off your 1/4!" haha but anything helps! getting rid of un sprung weight or any weight off your car helps I went for 11.7 to 11.5 just pulling out my back seat and my passenger seat.
