92 cx Wouldn't start ...check engine light was dim...
The check engine light was dim and I could not start the thing for anything. Checked all connections all seemed fine. I unplugged the ecu and plugged it back up and nothing happened. gave up on it and was pushing it up into the backyard and I went to unlock the steering wheel and the light check engine light came on bright and it started right up. AAAuuuurrrgghhh. Drove it 8 miles home just fine. Tried to start it again and it started just fine. Is my computer bad. sup wit dat. Thanx in advance

But what would cause the check engine light to come so dim and not start. But then the light came on bright and it started right up. It wasn't getting any spark when the C.E.L.(Check Engine Light) was dim(put my finger right on the spark plug wire at the distributor). I have never seen this before.
Yeah thats what I thought. But all other indicator lights were bright and the headlights were bright and cranked forever(less than a year on the battery). mos def not the battery but again thanx for replying so fast.

i say it's your alternator. If you're driving and your gauges start to go and your check engine pops up. then it's your alternator. Happened to me!
Wierd problem. I'd have to somewhat agree with these guys.. Could be your battery or alternator. Maybe even your starter. To me, sounded almost as if you push started it.. But I can't really assume that because I don't know how far you pushed it. But good luck..
I had the same problem. Even when I started it, everything was dim. Everyone thought the alternator was bad. Came out to be the alternator belt was loose. A couple adjustments, and better than ever!
Thanks so much guys. But it cant be the battery or alternator. I'll run down what happened again. Drove the car all day. Went to the mother-in-laws and came back out to the car after about an hour later. Normally when you start the car the C.E.L.(Check Engine Light) comes on while the fuel pump primes and it checks everything. All of my indicators light were bright except my C.E.L. which was dim. If it were my battery all lights would have been dim, and the car would not have been able to crank 30 times over full hour that I worked on the car. The headlights were bright. I did not push start it. I just tried to unlock the wheel and the C.E.L. light came on bright and I thought "maybe it will start now" and it did. Its liked the computer was not getting power. The big question is "WHAT WOULD CAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO BE DIM?" Thanx for all your help guys
