New to Hondas
Hello all, I'm proud to say that I am finally an owner of a Honda. I picked up a blue 92 Prelude SI with 150k on it for $1000...unfortunately it ended up having a blown engine
Upon rebuilding the engine I managed to break the knock sensor trying to unplug it (typical derp moment). I ordered a used one from someone on ebay, however when it arrived it looks nothing like the original. The guy on ebay said that it was from the same year, same model, same engine (H23A1). My question is was there a different knock sensor for same year Preludes with the H23A1? Or does this guy not know what he's talking about?
TIA
Here's a pic of the knock sensor I got....

If you broke something with a plug (2 wires), then u two are talking about different sensors. One of you is talking about a knock sensor, and the other is talking about the oil pressure sending unit. Both of these are on the back of the honda motor, but one is up higher (near the head) and one is lower (near the drive-axle shaft-thingy).
Problem is, I don't remember, which one is which but I thiiiiiink that the sensor with 2 wires is the oil pressure sending unit?? I think the single-wire sensor is the knock sensor, because a knock sensor is made of some material that will conduct current when impacted (or something like that)....in honda's case, a strong knock from the block will allow the ground signal from the block THROUGH the sensor and it will go up the wire (connected to it) to the ECU, which will recognize the received-GROUND signal as "knock".
Yeah, I have convinced myself that sounds right, lol...do some searching to doublecheck. I am no pro
I hope I have added something useful to your hunt for knowledge
