Help! Horn will not work unless break pedal recently pressed... ?!?
For a while I've noticed that occasionally my horn won't work, I've recently found out that it will only work after you have pressed the break pedal. It does not matter if the car is off / acc / on / running. Example:
Hop into car, when you press the horn button it does nothing; theres no clicking, no beeping, nothing. Press break pedal for a short moment, horn will now work a few times and then stop, press pedal again, will work... etc.
All the rear break-lights work fine, the dash break lamp is not lighting up apart from normal test when you switch the car on. Its like when you light up the break lights the horn circuit get a power charge which it stores until needed...
Can anyone help pin down why this is happening, and how i can fix it? Its a weird one.
Car is a 1994 Si Prelude, JDM.

wow dude.. LMAO... this is definitely a first for me.. did you recently install any electronics? mess with any of the wiring??
Strange one alright. Nope, no messing about with the electronics... i'm not a big horn user (hehe) so it may have been doing this ever since i got the car about a year ago. If you think about it, there usually aren't too many times you use the horn without having your foot on the break, or recently on the break!
lol.. (understand that i am not laughing at you, but laughing at your situation) i have never heard of this before.. sounds like you are having some sort of electrical situation.. if you bought the car used i would assume that either someone tried to remove electronics and did a terrible job.. sounds like you got some crossed wires or something... (my wifes contribution: maybe its due to flood damage..)- i know it sounds crazy but i know many people that have had their cars electrical systems act really screwy after surviving a flood.. (way to go wife!) anyhow, i hope someone else sounds off here on honda tech i would love to know what this is caused by.. lol
(maybe i will actually get some now that i posted my wifes suggestion and played along with her idea on honda tech
)

It must be something to do with an electrical connection somewhere! I don't think it'll be flood damage, I've had the center and under the steering wheel covers off wires/connections/metal all looks clean - I can't see any obvious signs of damage.
All other electronics - fold-in mirrors/electronic ac/parking-wand/stereo/all lights in and out/power windows/locking/factory remote-entry all work fine! Fuses under hood are all fine, and i've checked most of the under dash ones.
The car is manual, and does _not_ have ABS, airbags, cruise control, alarm or any other aftermarket alterations.
I'm hoping that someone with electrical knowlege of the car can maybe point to somewhere where the break lights and horn might meet in such a way that cause my problem! Ground point? I dunno... help!
