Default DA vacuume line for MAP sensor?

I know DA (90-93 integra) has the MAP sensor located on the firewall.

I wanted to know why the there is a "T" vacume fitting on the bottom of the map sensor when 1 line leads to a blocked WHITE plug & the the other side of the T fitting is where the vacuume source is from (leads to IM brass plug)?

1) couldn't i just run vacuum line from IM direct to MAP sensor?

2) why did honda even make an extra T fitting line for the MAP vacuum anyways? is it suppose to reduce PSI the MAP sensor will see ?
