Default JDM H22a swap question

I recently dropped a JDM H22a in my 92 'lude. On the engine harness I have one extra plug with no mate on my body harness. The plug only has a single wire. Anyway... my "chek engine" light is on and I assume this is the problem. My stock engine was a non Vtec... My swap included the P13 ECU. My engine also cuts off at 6500rpm instead of 7200rpm. Could this problem be connected? Anyone encountered this before? Thanks!!

You are in "safe" or "limp" mode because of the check engine light.

Where is the spare connector?

The spare connector is off of the wiring hasrness of the JDM engine... It has no mate, that I know of. I have a single wire that terminates in itself off of the body wire harness (wasnt hooked up to stock engine harness) that I was told was for a tach. I dunno?

I know how you feel- read my sig... As far as that connecter could it be for part of the ignition system because of the different types (one is internal, the other external coils). Any way since vtec was not avail. in 92 you didn't have the pre installed vtec wiring that was standard from 93 on (i think). Any ways this means you have to run a few wires. I think there are 4 or 5 wires that you need to run (because now jo0 have vtec. As far as 6500 ... you are in that little loop mode. No vtec and safety fuel cut off at 6750. This is because your CEL(check engine light). In order to see what your problem is you need to pull the codes(bend a paper clip in half and find the blue connecter that is hooked up into a dead plug underneath your radio. It's right next to anouther plug-make sure the plug has only 2 wires in it. Then you stick the paper clip into each one of the 2 holes and turn the ignition on. If it doesn't work right away fumble with the connection between the paper clip-you could also use a wire). The CEL will flash each long equals 10 each short equals one-then check online to see what they mean. Good luck with your car and feel free to PM me w/ some other q's. oh and Just be patient and expect to upgrade your entire fuel setup !

What do you need to do with the fuel setup? I changed my H23 (UK) for a JDM H22A, and the car seems to be running fine. Why does the whole fuel system need upgrading, and what is required??

sorry it took me so long to reply- I've been busy( I have 2 jobs and go to school full time). I LOVE my flywheel. It's hard to tell the difference when you go from at 2.2 sohc to a 2.2 dohc and notice a difference with the flywheel. I will however say htat it rev's noticibly better then before and the reving is extremly smooth- a must next time you do your clutch!

Again sorry... I would reccomend a new fuel pump, press. reg., and if you can afford it a rail and adj. injectors (if you have the h22a rail and injectors then they are ok, but you may want to upgrade them in the future). This is because with this new engine there will be a higher demand for fuel that your old system may not be able to keep up with. It was real noticable since I had an s pump for instance. Also one of the key components to your car's performace lies on your fuel system. Why not completely finish off one part of your car so that it's willing to put up with anything else extreme you do to your car. As far as the vtec wiring you need to search online for installs. There are a few sites that explain in semi detail, the majorety of the swap and which wires to add. I would give you all the links but my fuking computer erased all of my bookmarks from the swap. Hope this helps...
