Any itr brothers near Greensboro, NC willing to go check out a car for me?
I'm looking for a very specific car (ef civic) in a very specific model range, year, and trim level (Japan built car) to build for SCCA SMF class.
The reason I want this car is to move all my power train over from my current EF and save ~100-200 lbs in chassis weight alone.
I have found exactly one car that fits my criteria, but it is in Greensboro, NC.
The car has some surface rust around the rear fender wells, but that's not a huge deal to me.
But I don't want to make the trip up to NC for naught if the car isn't worth it.
Anyone in the brotherhood willing to go check out the car for me?
I would be very grateful and pay you food / beer / gas $.

So you found an 88 Standard? Can't you update/backdate your current chassis to make what amounts to an 88 Standard?
Although if you have an Si, it would be a bit more difficult and time consuming.

Yeah a ****ing unicorn!
I have a 91 si, so as I've been udbd'ing I realized it'll never be as light as an 88std.
There is another 100lbs less in the unibody itself somehow...
* thanks guys, I think Honda challenge chad is gonna check out the car for me.

The STD also has lighter hubs, tranny and such, but you'll be replacing those anyways. Remember that if you are using the OEM fuel tank, the 88-89 needs more gas before it starves out, so use the later tank/pump.
Oh, and the rear trailing arm...use the one from your 91 Si as it allows more clearance.

I wish I would've took pictures of my stripped SI to compare it to the 88std but I rushed through the process.
I went through this swap a couple years ago for SM hatch I built. Had a 90 Civic si and swaped over my drive train/suspension/wiring and etc.. to a clean 88 std. It's definitely worth it but time consuming at the same time.

Do you have any before and after weights?
I never got around to weighing my SI, but my STD with my b16a swap and a full tank of gas came out to 1940 lbs. The only thing I removed from the car was my rear SI seats which weighed 33lbs if I remember correctly. This was also on my 13x9 alumium wheels with hoosiers. The only light weight mod I did to the car was put HF magnesium drums on the rear.
With time and money you can definitely get another 150-200lbs off the car legally. Carbon fiber hood, lighter seats, custom light weight exhaust, fix the fueling issue, and etc.....
