Default 6th generation header

ok guys, i discovered a tiny hole a few weeks ago on my OEM header, near the heat shield, tiny, 1/4 the size of a dime, it explains my check engine light i believe, even a little air is getting in, initially thought it was a CAT problem or o2 sensor problem, changed all my o2 sensors and still felt some rumbing. looked at the inside of my cat was fine. awhile ago, my friend had to drive me and my girlfriend back from a party cuz we were messed up. she got in an argument with the Mcdonalds person, floored it, and jumped over a curb. huge curb, made the biggest "BANG" noise. a few hundred miles later, check engine light came on. my friend with a 99 civic, who dropped in his own JDM gsr motor, he is pretty knowledgable about hondas/acuras, and he said my catalytic converter looks ok, and eveything else. he saw the large scratch marks on the header, that led to this small hole. he covered it up with some putty or sealent, said its useless and will burn quick, temporary solution, not even really, actually he said its probably so hot there, burn by the time i drove home. LOL. anyway, check engine light went away, but i feel the rumbling at my feet, coming from the bottom of my car, exactly where the exhaust manifold is. question is, i heard from other people u can PLUG that hole, is that true? like at a muffler shop, or can i do it myself? either some professional sealent or putty that is resistant to high temps? my friend with the civic said just get an aftermarket header, but he didnt say anything about filling the hole. what can i do guys, readin ur posts, some of u are awesome, like , some archangel, and another SOHCarchangel, nick something, and some others. sorry, im new to the page, there alot of awesome guys out there who kno their $hhhitZ.

btw, this check engine light is due to the hole, trust me, i changed both o2 sensors, did all my maintenance, like coolant flush, oil changes regularly, spark plug change to denso iridiums, even did fuel injection cleaning, inside gas tank and in the hood where the carberator is, most i notice only put fuel injection inside gas tank, i did both places, tranny flush, changed cap and rotor. friend check EGR valve or something, etc etc... so, i kno its this hole, beside, the weird rumbling i initially thought was a clogged cat, but it was white inside, with no build up, we took out the OEM cat, and it was fine. so was the o2 sensor on it... so help me out guys.

OK first of all pull the code on your check engine light.

heres how to http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jweller1/check_eng.html

basically you have to replace the header. anything you do to "fix" it will be a rig job at best. Id start with the spazz that drove your car over a curb and take a collection cause Id' be too pissed to see straight.

I can only think of 2 things that might work to close the hole: JB Weld and muffler repair tape. both should be avvailable at an auto parts store. those are not fixes though, but just a temporary repair to get you by.

either get an aftermarket header, an OEM replacement, or get a muffler shop to bend up and weld you a replacement part.

You can weld back the hole in the header..alot of ppl with damaged aftermarket Header just go to the welder and weld it back.
even crack and dent they can fix, i have no idea as far as performance loss with a damage header goes.
but for 35 buck, why not giving it a try?
btw, SS header is easiler to fix, I dunno about cast-iron oem header tho'

if go going to get am aftermarket header just plug in the o2 sensor, the cel should be off after resetting the ecu

thxs man, i will see if any local people can fill the hole up or replace that one part, but if its around $100, i might as well just buy a new header. so i guess my check engine should go off if it was due to that hole which im like 99.0% it is from, cuz air wouldnt be getting in anymore.

pay no more than 65bucks for a little crack.
unless you have a dent in the headers to pull out.
