Default OT: Questions about 98specR crank & pistons into B16A block?

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=303437#2951203

Is he possible to install his 98specR crank & pistons into his B16A short block with custom con-rods? If so, what kind of CR will he get if he keep using his B16A head? And what kinda rods are good for this setup?

Any info will be appreciated, TKS!

Should be able to do it with custom rods.

CR will be the same as a 98specR motor (11:1).

What kinda rod do u suggest in the market right now? Also is it a good idea to send the crank somewhere for knife-edging?

If you've got the money Cunningham rods are .

As far as knife-edging goes, there are conflicting theories on this. My personal opinion is that it is better to leave well enough alone and not remove material from the stock crank, but I must admit that I have never owned a motor with a knife-edged crank so I cannot say that I've had any kind of bad experience with it.

If you want a lighter crank you can trade it for a GS-R crank.

Cunningham...umm sounds like they're made in UK? And just balancing the stock crank will be a better idea I guess eh?

Thx to all your concern and lovely advise.
I'm going to give up my JDM B18C block and turn to Toda 1.8L kit for my short block B16A. Hope it works fine.
Currently, I'm just worry the stock P73 ECU works fine with the Toda kit or not or I may need another ECU to match with it.

Cunningham rods are made in California.

Yes, the GS-R crank is lighter than the Type-R crank. The Type-R crank is better balanced and stronger. Personally, if I had one I wouldn't trade it for the other. Chances are you won't notice any difference between the two.

Definitely have whichever crank you use checked for straightness and balance.

Edit: Just noticed that this whole topic is moot now that there's a Toda stroker kit involved.

OK thanks a lot. He's just wondering what he can do with OEM internal product first, before thinking of TODA 1.8L stroker kit.

Yeap.
I'm trying to do it with the OEM parts before going to TOda 1.8L stroker kit. Sorry that I didn't mentioned before. Since I got an JDM B18C R block assembly, hope can use up those parts before go to aftermarket.

So the Toda 1.8L stroker kit allows you to stroke a B16A with the use of custom rods, pistons, or both?

Yes, that kits included blanced crank, forged & balanced pistons & rods, all piston rings, rod pin, crank bush included.
I don't know how to attach photo or you can go to toda web page and find it under B16A. It cost around USD$1,700.
