Headers for lowered Integra
Hi,
What headers do you recommend to buy for lowered Integra Type R, I have DC Sport 4-1 headers but they reach to far down and are always scratching the asphalt?
Unfortunately do I not have the oem exhaust manifold.
Thanks.

How low is the R? I had a hytech header on my caR and never had a scraping issue. 4-1 headers will typically scrape on anything, your best bet is to go with a 4-2-1 style.
Toda Racing hands down best bolt on mod I've ever done. More ground clearance than the JDM 4-1... so much in fact the oil pan sits lower than the header, it looks downright sexy, and the performance gain was quite substantial.
If you scrape it, it's likely due to the fact that you also took out the oil pan.
Or you ran over some debris.

Is this header A/C friendly? Or should I ask what good header is?
Toda will work with AC and PS no problems.
Correct. HEADER. Singular haha.
The only issue I personally do not like about some long tube header designs is they require removing the transmission brace and replacing it with one from a GS-R.
Yes I know the car will not suddenly fall apart nor will anything break. It's just kind of annoying that they didn't account for this (along with Moroso oil pans).
IIRC, SMSP did make an ITR specific version that hugged the brace.....

I'm surprised no one has mentioned a custom header. A custom header has so many benefits over an off-the-shelf generic design. Excellent ground clearance is just one of these benefits.
Because, realistically, who is able to make a custom header? Are you even able to? Seems pretty complex.
at least with toda, hytech or a proven name you get quality, performance and resale

I have a PLM hytech replica and I have awesome clearance compared to the other hytech replicas. On my eg6 it might sit 1-1.5" below the lowest part of the bumper. PLM does some good work!!!
I had a Toda great ground clearance and great header. My R is lowered quite a bit and I have a Spoon 4-2-1 which hangs really low. I have yet to bang it on anything, you just have to drive smart.
For the record, I really like the Spoon header....
I also have an SMSP B19 header, it is approx 6" longer than most headers. Not a big deal except I have a custom exhaust and do not want to bastardize it .

RMF Narrow replica is the only 4-1 with good ground clearance. It's also nice cause you don't have to modify or remove the Type-R transmission brace. My Civic is lowered over 2.5" (1-finger gap w/ 205/40-16) and this header only kissed the ground once. It didn't get dented or even dinged. Just a small scratch. I like it and I'm glad I bought it. Paid $250 shipped with test pipe during the Kidd Racing blow-out Christmas sale. No idea what these cost currently.
This is with the camera on the ground kinda looking up. The concrete that's in focus is the part directly below the pipes. More pics of the header here: http://s125.photobucket.com/albums/p53/94eg/Header/

I know this is an old thread but I'm kinda new at this n need some info.
Will these headers bolt on to a stock exhaust system or am I gonna need to get a new cat/test pipe etc?
Thanks n sorry in advance if it's a really dumb question.

Which HEADER are you referring to? And are you talking about a stock USDM ITR cat and exhaust?
Some headers are USDM length, some JDM, some custom and require test pipes. For example a OEM JDM ITR header will NOT bolt up to a stock USDM ITR cat and exhaust system. The length is wrong, the flange is clocked differently, and the diameters are different.
I picked up a plm hytech replica brand new for dirt cheap and the clearance sucked, there was no bracing to sort the header at the collector like the OEM header and it hung down super low, lower than the oil pan.
I absolutely hated it, so I removed the plm, cut off the OEM bracket that is on the OEM header by the collector and welded it onto the plm. I had to use a jack to lift the header to the correct spot to connect to the OEM bracket bolts but ever since then the header is tucked up nicely and the oil pan is now lower than header, and everything is nice and secure.
If you are stuck with a header out if your options are limited I would suggest this. The plm hytech replica fit around the ITR trans brace with no issues either with the bracket in place.
