Default 2006 Accord Automatic Transmission Fluid Change

After draining, and I learned there's fill plug I need to take out in the process, can I put the new fluid in through the dip stick, or does it have to be refilled through the fill plug? Thanks, Bill

V6 have the fill plug and I4 doesn't; but, you can always fill through the dip stick tube.

You the dipstick tube. It take more time but less work. Less work + more time is always easier and simplier.

If you don't have the time, wait until you do have the time to work on your car. Unlike an oil change, one can do it nicely in 20-30 mins. ATF change takes a long longer in the fill process. Don't rush or you'll spill and waste it.

I use the fill plug. The dipstick tube on the V6 is way too small.

Do your ATF with a sports game on (your choice of sports) and the wife can't bother you FTW. It will be "your time."

I've always gone through the DIP STICK on all the makes and models. Just find a small funnel, I'm sure there are some available.

In any case, make sure you do not rush this drain/refill process and that your levels are ACCURATE. NEVER OVERFILL.

I have a hose and funnel rig for the dipstick tube I use to adjust the level after I've run the engine and transmission. But the 3 quarts go in much quicker through the fill plug. It may be tight that first time you remove the fill plug, but you don't have to install it so tight after that, so it's much easier to remove the second time and every time after that. I've done a drain and fill every 15k miles, and I have 98k miles, so I've done it a few times.
