New D.O.T. Slick Hankook Ventus TD Autocrossing Tire Option?
Hankook Tire just released a new tire and I was thinking about picking up a set for Road Racing my B18 CRX called the Ventus TD found it at ventustd.com . They have a 195/55R15 which i think would work well since its a semi slick so the lighter weight would give me some better acceleration. Does anyone know anything about this tire? Or have any opinion on any popular semi-slicks?

I wonder what the deal is with that tire, as they already make the z214, and its not any cheaper than the z214 i think. and the treadwear is higher.. both are dot, leaves me confused.
I'm surprised they wouldn't offer a 205/50/15 or 225/45/15. I'd be interested in checking them out for track tires or for Tarmac Rally if I could pick up either of those sizes as the 15" price seems reasonable at $155 MSRP.
Some rulesets require that you have a visible tread and this would satisfy that. Rally rules have a void to tread ratio that you need in FIA rules. But when I ran Rally TN they did not follow the FIA rules and just required tires, with tread that met a minimum tread depth at the start of the event.

Well I know the threads will allow for wet traction and their website really promotes that fact.
My CRX has a B18 is basically a NA swap with boltons, and i have a autopower cage. My car is really mild and doesn't make too much power, so I am thinking that the rotational mass will be smaller compared to a 225 so it will take less force to push the tire so wouldn't that allow for faster times? I am thinking the grip is going to be there and wont be the issue so what i am thinking is 225 would be overkill with something that grippy and would hurt me if anything since its heavier.
